Facilities Manager — GMP Manufacturing / Site Expansion — Kilkenny — Permanent

We're hiring on behalf of a global healthcare and medical device manufacturer with a modern, high-volume manufacturing site in Kilkenny that is growing fast.

The role: You'll own facilities, utilities and infrastructure for the whole site and lead a team of 40+ employees and contractors. The site is about to be extended, and you'll be the person who keeps a regulated manufacturing operation running at full tilt while that extension is built around it. Operations, Quality, Engineering and EHS will look to you for answers on anything to do with the building and its systems.

What you'll actually be doing:

Leading all facilities operations, utilities, infrastructure and engineering support services across the site

Overseeing the site extension and wider capital programme — planning, delivery and handover into a live GMP operation

Keeping critical systems reliable and compliant — HVAC, water, compressed air, boilers, chillers and energy infrastructure

Managing facilities budgets, asset plans, capital planning and outsourced service providers

Leading and developing a facilities team of 40+ employees and contractors

Driving improvement on reliability, sustainability and cost

Holding the line on GMP, EHS, regulatory and corporate standards

Partnering with Operations, Quality, Engineering, EHS, Supply Chain and Finance — and shaping site decisions, not just responding to them

What we need:

✅ Degree in Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management or a related discipline

✅ Significant facilities leadership experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing

✅ Proven experience overseeing a site extension, expansion or greenfield project in a GMP-regulated environment

✅ Hands-on management of critical utilities

✅ Experience leading large teams and managing contractors and service providers

✅ Budget, capital planning and investment programme experience

✅ Strong working knowledge of GMP, quality and EHS

Nice to have:

⭐ Direct responsibility for capital projects of €5M+

⭐ Delivering construction or expansion work in Ireland while manufacturing kept running

⭐ FDA-regulated experience

⭐ PMP, PRINCE2, Lean Six Sigma or equivalent

The reality of the role: This is a senior, site-level job with a building project attached. You'll carry day-to-day responsibility for keeping a live GMP plant running and, at the same time, own the facilities side of an extension the business is counting on. The authority is real and so is the scrutiny — if the utilities go down or the extension slips, it lands on your desk. If you have done an extension before in pharma or med device and want to do it again at a site that is still growing, this is a very good seat.

Kilkenny — on-site, with one day a week from home. Permanent. Excellent salary, bonus and benefits package.
