Job Description - Finance Director

  • Develop and execute Elgin’s long-term financial strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and growth targets.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team and Board of Directors.
  • Define and monitor key financial performance indicators, ensuring financial discipline and operational efficiency.
 
Capital Allocation & Project Financing
  • Lead capital allocation strategies, ensuring optimal deployment of financial resources.
  • Manage Elgin’s capital structure, optimising debt and equity financing while implementing tax-efficient strategies across jurisdictions.
  • Oversee project financing, securing funding for large-scale solar projects through partnerships with banks, equity investors, and financial institutions.
  • Develop and execute a capital structure strategy that supports significant scaling, including equity financing, debt structuring, and strategic funding.
 
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
  • Direct financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
  
Risk Management & Compliance
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial, operational, and regulatory risks.
  • Chair the Group Risk Committee, ensuring a comprehensive approach to financial and market risk management.
  • Maintain full compliance with UK and European financial regulations, tax obligations, and industry standards.
  • Uphold strong internal controls, audit processes, and governance to safeguard financial integrity.
 
Stakeholder Relations & Investor Engagement
  • Serve as the primary financial representative to investors, financial institutions, auditors, and regulators.
  • Build and maintain strong investor relationships, ensuring transparent and timely communication.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, investor materials, and disclosures.
  • Oversee key business units, including Asset Management and Energy Trading.
  • Manage the operational asset portfolio, integrating financial, energy management, and asset reporting
 
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Build an effective and scalable finance function aligned with Elgin’s growth.
  • Drive digital transformation by implementing financial technology solutions.
What you will need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a FD or equivalent role.
  • Proven experience developing and executing financial strategies in a high-growth environment.
  • Expertise in project financing, capital markets, and corporate transactions, particularly within the renewable energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of UK and European regulatory frameworks, tax structures, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Commercial acumen, with experience in contract negotiation, governance, and stakeholder management.
  • A track record of leading financial teams, driving process improvements, and fostering innovation.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and communication skills.
