The successful candidate will manage and be supported by the finance team.
You will report directly to the Head of Finance, Legal and Governance.
Responsibilities
Technical Financial Management
Strong technical accounting expertise with comprehensive knowledge of charity accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance.
Experience preparing statutory financial statements and managing annual audits.
Proven ability to oversee complex funding streams, including State funding, grants, donor income, restricted and unrestricted funds.
Advanced budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management, and financial planning capabilities.
Experience developing and maintaining robust financial controls, policies, and procedures.
Strong understanding of risk management, internal controls, and governance frameworks.
Expertise in management accounting, variance analysis, KPI reporting, and financial performance monitoring.
Experience preparing high-quality financial reports for senior leadership, Boards, regulators, and external funders.
Knowledge of taxation matters relevant to charities, including VAT and charitable tax exemptions.
Advanced financial systems and ERP experience with a focus on process optimisation and reporting automation.
Regulatory and Stakeholder Reporting
Demonstrated experience managing financial reporting requirements for regulatory bodies, government departments, statutory agencies, and service level agreement (SLA) funders.
Ability to ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and funding-related reporting obligations.
Experience presenting complex financial information clearly and effectively to Boards of Trustees, Audit and Risk Committees, and senior stakeholders.
Strong understanding of charity governance requirements and best practice financial stewardship.
Leadership and Team Management
Proven experience leading, developing, and motivating finance teams in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Strong people management skills with the ability to build capability, drive accountability, and support professional development.
Experience managing performance, succession planning, and workforce development within finance functions.
Ability to foster a collaborative, customer-focused finance team that supports organisational objectives.
Change Management and Continuous Improvement
Demonstrated track record of leading finance transformation initiatives and driving organisational change.
Experience reviewing and redesigning financial processes to improve efficiency, controls, and reporting quality.
Ability to identify opportunities for automation, digitalisation, and continuous improvement.
Strong project management skills with experience delivering change programmes within tight timelines.
Ability to influence stakeholders and gain buy-in for new processes, systems, and ways of working.
Strategic and Commercial Skills
Ability to operate as a strategic business partner to the Head of Finance.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide insightful financial advice and recommendations.
Experience supporting organisational growth, strategic planning, and business case development.
Ability to balance operational detail with strategic oversight in a complex and evolving environment.
Strong decision-making capability supported by sound financial analysis and risk assessment.
Particularly Valuable for a Growing €15M+ Charity
Experience supporting organisational scaling and growth.
Experience managing multi-site or multi-programme finances.
Familiarity with charity regulatory reporting and governance requirements.
Experience working with external auditors, regulators, grant funders, and public sector funding bodies.
Proven ability to strengthen financial control environments while enabling operational flexibility and growth.
Experience preparing Board packs, financial dashboards, and committee reports that support informed decision-making

Understanding of the not-for-profit sector would be beneficial.
