Job Description - Finishing Foreman - Cork

Clancy Construction is seeking an experienced Finishing Foreman to work with us in Cork.



Location


This is a Site based role in the Cork area.



Reporting to 


The Site Manager.



Key Responsibilities will include:


 



  • Ensure Safety is managed and promoted above all other Core Values.

  • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all finishing trades on site to ensure high-quality completion on time, within budget, and to the required standards.  Coordinate sequencing of trades to avoid clashes and inefficiencies.



  • Manage weekly and daily site activities related to finishing stages including the generation of look ahead schedules and communicating the plan to all involved.

  • Maintain high standards of workmanship across all finishing elements while ensuring a documented handover protocol between trades.

  • Liaise with QS Department regarding preferred sub-contractors and timing of key appointments in line with programme and deliverables.

  • Ensure work is carried out in line with drawings, specifications, and programme.

  • Encourage benchmarks where necessary to remove ambiguity

  • Conduct regular inspections and snag lists for action and close out.

  • Ensure all defects are identified, recorded, and resolved promptly.

  • Ensure all Operatives comply with our 5-point PPE policy at all times.

  • Play an integral part in achieving project milestones and handover deadlines.

  • Monitor progress and report accurate status/ delays to management.

  • Liaise with subcontractors, site management, and design teams as appropriate.

  • Attend site meetings and provide updates on finishing progress.

  • Coordinate with internal QA/QC teams and subcontractors on a regular basis resolving potential issues in advance and closing out observations in a timely manner.

  • Maintain accurate site records, snag lists, and close out/completion reports.

  • Achieve a 'right first time' philosophy throughout the project life cycle.

  • Ensure all relevant documentation is completed for handover.



Qualifications/Experience:



  • 10 years’ experience with a Main or Specialist Finishing Contractor in delivering sizeable residential projects from Frame to Finish.

  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the unique requirements entailed in the finishing works of Class A Residential buildings

  • Proactive and engaging manner with a tenacious bias toward excellence

  • Team player with ability to build effective relationships at all levels - making the project and its outcome better, because of their input

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Safety management and quality management.

  • Strong ability to lead by example and mentor junior Colleagues from the outset.

  • Keen eye for detail, with the confidence and experience to identify potential issues before they emerge.

  • Computer literate and familiar with MS office.



  • English proficiency is required – spoken and written.
