Tyndall National Institute is seeking exceptional mid-career researchers (5–15 years post-PhD) with a proven track record of research excellence and ambition to apply for the Global Talent Ireland 2025 Programme funded by Research Ireland.
This prestigious national programme offers significant funding and support to help you relocate your research programme and develop your career at Ireland’s premier semiconductor research institute.
This opportunity is part of Ireland’s bold new Silicon Island Strategy, a national initiative to position Ireland as a global leader in deep-tech innovation, advanced manufacturing, and semiconductor research.

Tyndall National Institute, University College Cork, Ireland is one of Europe's leading research organisations in semiconductors, photonics and deep-tech research, innovation and researcher development. Tyndall is a key actor and hosting partner in the delivery of the ‘Chips for Europe Initiative’ (EU Chips Act), participating in EU Pilot Lines FAMES, NANOIC and PIXEurope.

With a complement of 600 people, and €300million infrastructure, Tyndall has developed world-leading facilities and expertise in semiconductor materials, devices, circuits and systems. Targeted applications include Information and Communications, Health & Life Sciences, Agritech & Food Security, Energy and Climate Mitigation, emerging fields such as quantum, and novel computing paradigms.

We are now looking for global talent in Materials and Sensors, IC Design, Microelectronics, Photonics, Power Electronics and Magnetics, Heterogeneous Integration/Packaging, Quantum Technology and Semiconductor System Applications.

Please note this programme is only open to Mid-Career Researchers who are currently employed outside of Ireland.

What We’re Looking For

Researchers with 5–15 years of post-PhD experience
A strong, independent research vision in areas aligned with key Tyndall’s domain
- Semiconductors, Photonics, Magnetics, Integrated Circuits, Materials, Quantum, Heterogeneous Integration, Packaging, Power Electronics, IC Design.
Demonstrated ability to deliver high-impact research and grow collaborative networks
Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and open science

Submit an Expression of Interest to Tyndall by 11th August 2025
Applicants must first submit their application through Tyndall. Tyndall will then evaluate the submissions and select candidates it wishes to support for a direct application to Research Ireland.
