Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

• Oversee day-to-day store operations, ensuring smooth, efficient, and customer-focused service.
  




• Implement and maintain company policies, standards, and procedures.
  




• Manage stock control, ordering, and inventory accuracy to minimize waste and maximize availability.
  

Team Management

• Recruit, train, and develop team members to foster a culture of performance and engagement.
  




• Provide ongoing coaching, performance reviews, and succession planning.
  




• Schedule staff effectively to balance operational needs with cost efficiency.
  

Customer Experience

• Ensure an excellent in-store shopping experience through a focus on service, standards, and availability.
  




• Handle escalated customer queries and complaints professionally and effectively.
  




• Drive customer loyalty initiatives to strengthen repeat business.
  

Financial Performance

• Manage budgets, forecasts, and P&L performance.
  




• Monitor sales trends and implement initiatives to achieve revenue and margin goals.
  




• Control operational costs and ensure compliance with financial procedures.
  

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure the store operates in line with health & safety, food safety, and legal requirements.
  




• Promote a safe working and shopping environment for employees and customers.
  

Skills & Qualifications

• Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate a high level of commercial acumen
  


• A successful track record of managing a number of different departments at a managerial level
  


• Minimum of 10 years management experience in grocery retail industry, in both fresh and ambient departments
  


• A self-starter with strong drive, an appetite for hard work who demonstrates energy and an ambition to succeed
  


• Able to demonstrate strong leadership and team building skills
  


• Excellent analytical skills with a particular focus on P&L management
  


• Flexible management style; able to celebrate success, motivate and have difficult conversations with colleagues and managers
