The EHS Officer (Data Centre Cooling Systems) will oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance for mechanical cooling installations, pipework fabrication, and modular skid assembly both on-site at data centers and within off-site manufacturing workshops.
You will ensure strict adherence to high-risk work protocols associated with live critical environments, pressure testing, heavy mechanical lifting, and chemical/coolant handling.
Site Safety Management: Oversee day-to-day EHS compliance on active data center construction and mechanical fit-out sites.
Risk Assessments & RAMS: Draft, review, and enforce Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS) specifically tailored to cooling pipework installations, heavy equipment rigging, and system tie-ins.
High-Risk Work Permits: Manage Permits to Work (PTW) for hot works (welding), pressure testing (hydrostatic and pneumatic), work at height, confined space entry, and heavy lifting operations.
Data Centre Standards Compliance: Ensure all works comply with strict client-specific data center safety rules, EU/Irish Health & Safety legislation, and Brodeen’s Safe-T-Cert standards.
Chemical & Coolant Safety: Oversee COSHH/chemical safety protocols during the flushing, pressure testing, and chemical dosing of chilled water and process cooling lines.
Incidents & Audits: Lead site safety audits, toolbox talks, hazard reporting, and thorough root-cause investigations for any near-misses or incidents.
Off-Site & On-Site Alignment: Coordinate between off-site skid fabrication teams in Tipperary and site installation crews to maintain continuous safety standards.
Education: Level 7/8 Degree or Higher Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent IOSH/NEBOSH qualification).
Experience: 3+ years as a Health & Safety Officer within mechanical contracting, process pipework, or industrial engineering environments.
Sector Experience: Direct experience working on data center construction projects or heavy mechanical process sites (HVAC, chilled water, or cooling infrastructure) is highly preferred.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of pressure systems regulations, lifting equipment (LOLER/GA1 inspections), hot work safety, and chemical safety.
Certifications: Valid Safe Pass, Managing Safely in Construction (MSIC), or relevant IOSH membership.
Travel: Willingness to travel to data center project sites across Ireland and mainland Europe as required.
