Job Description - Housekeeping Supervisor

Job Title:                  Housekeeping Supervisor


Reporting to:            Facilities Manager


Location:                  Griffith College Dublin, South Circular Road


Job Type:                 Full-Time / Permanent




Job Summary:



The Housekeeping Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the housekeeping department across the entire college campus and accommodation blocks, ensuring that high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation are consistently maintained in academic, administrative, and communal areas.
Additionally, during the summer period, the role will include operational oversight of student accommodation, which transitions into short-stay and hotel-style accommodation for summer guests, language schools, and academic events.




Job Responsibilities:




  • Supervise the daily housekeeping operations across all college buildings, including classrooms, offices, common areas, restrooms, and specialist facilities.

  • Ensure the timely and effective implementation of cleaning schedules and tasks.

  • Monitor and maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and appearance throughout the campus.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and health & safety standards.

  • Provide leadership, support, and training to housekeeping staff.

  • Manage supplies and equipment, ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained and equipment is in good working order.

  • Coordinate with the Facilities and Estates team for reporting maintenance issues.

  • Maintain accurate records of staff attendance, cleaning rotas, and incident reports.

  • Oversee the housekeeping operation of the student residences during the summer period, when the accommodation operates as a hotel for short-term guests.

  • Lead the deep cleaning, resetting, and turnaround of student apartments for use by summer guests.

  • Coordinate with accommodation and front-of-house teams to ensure a seamless guest experience.

  • Ensure timely room readiness in line with booking schedules.

  • Supervise laundry operations and linen management.

  • Respond promptly to guest-related housekeeping issues or special requests.

  • Uphold hospitality standards appropriate for short-stay accommodation.




Minimum Experience Required




  • Proven experience in a housekeeping supervisory role, ideally within a hospitality or educational environment.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.

  • High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining standards.

  • Flexibility to work during peak periods, including evenings or weekends if required.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and cleaning best practices.

  • Experience working in a hotel or short-stay accommodation environment.

  • Previous experience in a third-level education setting.

  • Basic IT skills (e.g., email, rota software, reporting tools).
