Job Description - Joiner


Role Purpose


The Joiner will play a key role in the construction, renovation, and maintenance of buildings across the Glenmore Estate. This is a hands-on role requiring skill, precision, and pride in craftsmanship. The Joiner will focus on high-quality finishing work such as fitting staircases, hanging doors, installing skirting boards, architraves, window frames, and other bespoke timber finishes. The role will also support wider estate maintenance and improvement projects as required.


 


 Key Responsibilities


Joinery & Carpentry Works



  • Carry out first and second fix joinery on new builds, refurbishments, and repair projects.

  • Fit doors, frames, locks, staircases, skirting, architraves, window boards, and other internal finishes to a high standard.

  • Construct and install timber structures including stud walls, partitions, flooring, and roofing elements.

  • Manufacture and repair bespoke joinery items, including shelving, cabinetry, and fitted furniture.

  • Assist with the renovation of old cottages, barns, and estate buildings, ensuring work is sympathetic to existing finishes.


 


Quality & Finishing



  • Deliver consistently high-quality workmanship with a keen eye for precision and finish.

  • Ensure all joinery work meets design specifications and estate standards.

  • Take care to maintain the integrity and character of heritage or older buildings when carrying out restoration work.

  • Inspect and correct imperfections to ensure the highest level of detail and presentation.


 


Materials, Tools & Equipment



  • Select and prepare materials in line with project specifications.

  • Safely operate woodworking tools, power tools, and machinery.

  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any maintenance requirements.

  • Contribute to the organisation and tidiness of workshops and job sites.


 


Health, Safety & Compliance



  • Adhere to all site safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.

  • Follow estate health and safety standards and report any incidents or hazards promptly.

  • Ensure all works comply with relevant building regulations and estate standards.


 


 Teamwork & Collaboration



  • Work closely with other trades and departments across the estate to deliver coordinated projects.

  • Take direction from the Estate Manager or Site Supervisor while working independently when required.

  • Communicate clearly and proactively about progress, materials needs, and site conditions.


 


Person Specification


Essential



  • Fully qualified and time-served Joiner or Carpenter.

  • Proven experience in finishing joinery, including stairs, doors, skirting, and architraves.

  • Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and plans.

  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage time effectively.

  • Full UK driving licence.


Desirable



  • Experience working on estates, farm buildings, or rural construction projects.

  • Experience with restoration and conservation joinery.

  • Knowledge of both traditional and modern carpentry methods.

  • CSCS card or equivalent site qualification.
