Job Description - Junior Product Manager (Remote)

Job Description 

The  Junior Product Manager  position is a role focused on the close management of several of our key internal product projects. These projects will incorporate the complete product lifecycle from the conceptual through to wireframing, development and go to market phases.

This specific role is for an immediate start if possible, to begin by the end of Q2 (July).

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for owning the product roadmap and assisting in identifying new ways to create long term value through new product offerings. You will work cross-functionally with various internal teams to bring these products through the entirety of the product life cycle. 

Some of the core responsibilities of the Product Manager are as follows: 

  • Working with the team to identify and prioritise market opportunities and translating them into potential product offerings for StudioForty9 clients. 

  • Lead the strategic planning, development and launch of StudioForty9 products while ensuring alignment with StudioForty9’s overall business strategy.

  • Managing the product roadmap, product team backlog, overseeing any improvements to the product workflow.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the execution of the product line strategy, ensuring alignment with desired outcomes and timely delivery. 

  • Lead and co-ordinate go-to-market strategies when launching new features.

  • Define KPIs and report on product performance and propose product improvement.

The Product Manager will have oversight of the full lifecycle of the project from the conceptual phase to the ready for market phase. Here is an example of the activities that might occur periodically over the product life cycle: 

Conceptual Stage 

  1. Work with the wider team to identify new potential product offerings and determine market viability.

  2. Define the requirements and deliverables of the product.

  3. Determine and price project costs.

  4. Working with internal teams to produce proof of concepts and/or wireframes.

  5. Meetings to confirm the product requirements and sign off timelines and costs.

Early Stage Project

  1. Long term planning for milestones and deliverables.

  2. Scheduling development and design resources. 

  3. Ongoing communication with relevant internal stakeholders.

  4. Conducting standup meetings and Kanban boards within StudioForty9 to monitor the progress of the project. 

Mid Stage Project

  1. Ongoing management of product development resources.

  2. Possible change requests are likely to come in from stakeholders, these need to be assessed, scoped and priced separately from the original signed off Statement of Work for the project. These may need to be pushed to a future phase.

  3. Ongoing review of internal project cost analysis.

Late Stage Project / Go Live

  1. Agreeing the go live plan with relevant internal stakeholders.

  2. Ensuring go to market strategy is in place for product launch.

  3. Ensure training documentation is in place for internal teams and clients. 

  4. Ensure final pricing of the product has been reviewed and agreed. 

  5. Ensure relevant case study or testing sandbox is in place for trialling product.

Post Live Stage 

  1. Training of products with relevant StudioForty9 teams.

  2. Ensuring that there is documentation on the product: how it was built, how it works etc. 

  3. Post launch cost analysis on the project

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate is likely to have the following skills: 

  • 2+ years of previous commercial work experience with 1 of those years being in Product Management or a related field.

  • Strategic and innovative thinking.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Self-motivated and comfortable dealing with ambiguity; in particular ability to be able to work independently with limited guidance from your line manager.

  • Ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders within a project.

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Experience managing dependencies and identifying risks to maintain the project timeline.

  • Strong problem resolution skills.

Nice to Have

  • A working understanding of leading ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, Salesforce and BigCommerce.

  • Understanding of basic underlying technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS will definitely be an advantage.

  • Familiarity with Project Management software tools for ticket logging and controlling the deliverables of a project.
