Job Description - Knife Worker

Role: Skilled Knife Person / Trimmer

Reports To: Line or Abattoir Supervisor

The Kepak Group are looking to recruit the right person for a permanent Skilled Knife Person / Trimmer role to cover our manufacturing facility in McCarren Meats in Cavan. McCarren Meats Unlimited Company is probably the oldest traditional pig slaughtering, processing and bacon curing company in Ireland.

The above position works Monday to Friday generally, with varied start times that may suit you. Core Hours 6:00am - 17:00pm Mon - Fri with overtime available.

Remuneration is dependent on experience and a skills assessment which will be completed upon commencement.

Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of the boning hall or abattoir team. Abattoir work will involve specialised slaughtering tasks, cutting meat, weighing, packing, cleaning etc. Boning Hall work involves produce of cuts and trims of meat to Kepak specification and at line speed.
  • Be familiar with the daily production plan and work as part of the team to set up the line, complete checks and ensuring materials are ready to use. Perform all pre start, hygiene and safety checks as directed.
  • Ensure that the product is of the highest standard and report any issues to the Line supervisor immediately.
  • Participate fully in Lean Manufacturing processes and embrace new methods of working.#jobs.ie

Requirements – What we need from you?

The successful candidates will work as part of the factory processing team producing meat to fulfil production targets on a daily and weekly basis.

Successful candidates will be required to:

  • Work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Meet production targets and to the speed of the line.
  • Physical role including lifting and standing.
  • Further specific role details available on enquiry.
  • Previous experience working in an abattoir or boning hall is a distinct advantage, training will be provided.
