Job description

The Affidea Group is one of the most successful European healthcare diagnostics imaging companies, we have over 400 staff within our Irish clinics. The business operates diagnostic imaging and minor injuries centres' around the country, offering a broad range of cutting-edge imaging technology and healthcare services to the public, insurers, employers and other organisations.

We’re looking for an experienced Nurse to join our Local Injuries Unit and play a hands‑on role in shaping the care we deliver every day. This is a great opportunity for a confident nurse who enjoys leading from the front, supporting colleagues, and making a real difference to patient experience in a fast‑paced minor injury care setting. As Lead Nurse, you’ll combine clinical expertise with day‑to‑day leadership, working closely with the nursing team and the wider multidisciplinary teams to ensure the unit runs smoothly and patients receive safe, high‑quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, triaging and treating patients with minor injuries

  • Supporting and guiding colleagues with clinical decisions and escalation when needed

  • Overseeing the daily operation of the unit, including staffing, patient flow and prioritisation

  • Helping plan rotas and allocate resources to ensure continuity of service

  • Making sure governance, infection control and health & safety standards are always met

  • Leading team discussions and contributing to service improvements

  • Taking part in audits, incident reviews and quality improvement work

  • Working closely with the Quality Team and wider clinical teams to support preparation for JCI accreditation and other internal and external audits

  • Supporting the implementation and monitoring of standards, policies and procedures within the LIU

  • Assisting with staff induction, training, and ongoing competency development

Job requirements

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with active NMBI registration

  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, with at least 2 years in an urgent care or emergency setting

  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience

  • Advanced clinical assessment and wound care skills

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Emergency Nursing or Minor Injuries

  • Experience with triage systems (e.g., Manchester Triage)

  • Familiarity with electronic health records and clinical audit processes
