Locum Consultant Psychiatrist - General Adult

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, person-centred psychiatric services within a progressive and supportive healthcare environment.

The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care of adults experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions. The role involves working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, service users, families, and community partners to ensure safe, effective, and recovery-focused care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level psychiatric assessment and treatment for adult patients.

• Lead and support multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of evidence-based mental health services.

• Participate in service planning, development, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives.

• Supervise and support non-consultant hospital doctors and other healthcare professionals.

• Contribute to teaching, training, research, and continuous professional development activities.

• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with all relevant professional, legal, and ethical standards.

Essential Requirements

• Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland in Psychiatry.

• Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent specialist qualification.

• Significant experience in General Adult Psychiatry.

• Demonstrated clinical leadership and commitment to high-quality patient care.

• Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience in service development and quality improvement initiatives.

• Involvement in teaching, research, and postgraduate medical education.

• Experience working within community mental health services.
