The is a contract position reporting to the Head of Professional Training and Head of Life Long Learning. This is a role working with a team in the area of professional legal education. The team offers various training courses including seminars, workshops, masterclasses, certificate courses and diplomas. The courses are in person and online. This is a 2 year contract position.
Main Duties & Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will carry out the following duties in line with the Society’s standards and strategic objectives and as directed by the Head of Professional Training and Head of Lifelong Learning.
Co-ordination and running of selected workshops, seminars, conferences and masterclasses.
Design new courses
Manage own portfolio of courses, including the recruitment of lecturers and the co-ordination of course delivery.
Write promotional articles and brochures relating to courses.
Work closely with the support staff to coordinate various activities and projects within Professional Training as they arise.
Work closely with the marketing team to promote courses.
Build strong working relationships with trainers and expert speakers.
Undertake evaluations of current courses to improve content and delivery.
Provide recommendations and input on how to improve existing courses.
Identify potential opportunities for new courses.
Assist with Law Society Skillnet and EU grant proposals.
Act as Secretary to a Law Society Committee, if required.
Knowledge & Skills
Be a qualified solicitor or barrister.
Have a background in education and knowledge of the legal profession in Ireland.
Proven event management experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail.
An ability to work on his/her own initiative and as part of a team and be proactive in achieving project outcomes.
Diplomatic and professional communication skills.
Excellent IT skills.
A proactive approach with a can-do-attitude to work.
Methodical, flexible and capable of undertaking multitask driven work.
A flexible approach to working as occasional late evenings, working lunches, weekends and travel within Ireland with overnight stays away may be required.
Ability to work in a pressurised environment.
Ability to work to tight deadlines.
Familiarity with accounts management would also be an advantage.
