Job Description - Manager, Accounting

You\u2019ll lead multiple process workstreams through exploration, gap analysis, integration planning, execution, and problem-solving. Additionally, you\u2019ll identify finance-related risks and collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate them, discuss finance and accounting concepts across the organization, and influence execution of plans through strong interpersonal skills. You\u2019ll also proactively engage in resolving potential conflicts between Finance and non-Finance functions.\n\nJob Description:\n\nEssential Responsibilities: \n\n * Lead several process workstreams through explorations, gap analysis, integration planning, execution, and problem solving\n * Identify finance-related risks and partner with cross-functional teams to mitigate the identified risks\n * Discuss finance/accounting concepts with others across the organization\n * Lead and drive execution of plans and influence where you do not have direct authority through strong interpersonal skills\n * Proactively engage, evaluate, and drive resolution of potential conflicts between various Finance and non-Finance functions\n * Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously\n * Work collaboratively with workstream leads and subject matter experts to arrive at risk-based approaches related to tactical execution steps\n * Comfort with problem solving and creative solutioning\n\n\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n * 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor\u2019s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\n\n\nAdditional Responsibilities \u0026 Preferred Qualifications:\n\nThe Manager, Controller is the financial steward for a portfolio of European Corporate entities. The role is accountable for financial integrity, statutory and regulatory compliance, entity governance, and the operation of a strong control environment. \n\nThis role leads the Controllership CoE in India, providing second-level review, oversight, and final sign-off on financial reporting, controls, audits, and compliance outcomes. It also partners with the Tax CoE in Ireland/India to ensure statutory requirements are met. \n\nYou will represent Finance with Boards, local leadership, and worker councils, providing risk-based insights and ensuring adherence to statutory, fiscal, and regulatory obligations. \n\nEntity Scope\n\nOversight of controllership activities for a 10+ entity portfolio, including regulated and non-regulated entities such as: PayPal Eur Services Ltd., PayPal Limited, PayPal Poland Sp. z o.o., PayPal Spain S.L., PayPal (Europe) S.\u00e0 r.l., and related subsidiaries. \n\n\nScope may expand as business needs evolve. \n\nEssential Responsibilities\n\n1\\. Controllership Oversight \u0026 Governance\n\n * Serve as the single point of accountability for financial integrity, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance. \n\n\n\n * Lead second-level review of CoE-prepared close outputs (analytics, reconciliations, journals, control documentation). \n\n\n\n * Review monthly analytics, investigate variances, and escalate risks appropriately. \n\n\n\n * Maintain robust governance over accounting policies, controls, and entity-specific requirements. \n\n\n\n * Provide direction, priorities, and quality expectations to the CoE. \n\n\n\n\n2\\. Financial Reporting \u0026 Statutory Compliance\n\n * Ensure timely, accurate statutory financials under IFRS/local GAAP through review, challenge, and approval of CoE-prepared statements. \n\n\n\n * Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and audit requirements across all entities. \n\n\n\n * Oversee third-party vendors supporting statutory financial statement preparation. \n\n\n\n * Lead annual audit cycles, including planning, reviews, query management, and presentation of results. \n\n\n\n * Present Board-level materials covering financials, forecasts, controls, and regulatory insights, produced by the CoE. \n\n\n\n * Ensure all filings, signatures, and archiving meet local jurisdictional requirements. \n\n\n\n\n3\\. Controls, Risk Management \u0026 Compliance\n\n * Oversee execution and review of internal controls performed by the CoE and other teams. \n\n\n\n * Monitor control outcomes, identify deficiencies, and ensure timely remediation. \n\n\n\n * Ensure compliance with capital/funding requirements, governance frameworks, and jurisdiction-specific regulations. \n\n\n\n * Present control outcomes, audit updates, and financial risks to the EU Controller, CFO, and relevant stakeholders. \n\n\n\n * Partner with Internal Audit, SOX, Legal, Compliance, and Risk \n\n\n\n\n4\\. Issue Management\n\n * Be accountable for issue prioritization, monitoring, escalation, and closure. \n\n\n\n * CoE executes resolution activities, coordinates with business teams, validates fixes, and maintains the Issues \u0026 Matters Tracker. \n\n\n\n * Provide governance, guidance, and escalation support to ensure timely and sustainable resolutions. \n\n\n\n * Communicate impacts and timelines to leadership. \n\n\n\n\n5\\. Leadership of the Controllership CoE\n\n * Lead 2\u20133 CoE resources, setting expectations for quality, timeliness, controls rigor, and documentation. \n\n\n\n * Provide coaching to strengthen accounting, controls execution, and analytical skills. \n\n\n\n * Ensure consistent execution and alignment across regions through structured review and prioritization processes. \n\n\n\n * Drive standardization, automation, and continuous improvement. \n\n\n\n\n6\\. Cross-Functional Partnership \u0026 Influence\n\n * Partner with Global controllership, APG, Tax, Legal, Compliance, Treasury, FP\u0026A, and the Tax CoE to assess and implement accounting, fiscal, and statutory impacts. \n\n\n\n * Provide controllership leadership on transformation projects (e.g., S/4HANA, system upgrades, grants). \n\n\n\n * Support entity-level forecasting and provide clear analytical insights. \n\n\n\n * Represent Finance in worker council and local stakeholder interactions. \n\n\n\n\n7\\.
