Assistant Director of Nursing – Limerick

Our client, a leading acute hospital in the Limerick region, is now seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the role of Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON). The role carries all the benefits of a permanent contract with career progression opportunities, CPD support and pension, and reports to the Director of Nursing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic and clinical leadership and direction for nursing and related services, delivering effective, efficient, quality assured and patient centred care.


• Manage assigned areas in a cost effective and efficient manner while maintaining a high standard of patient care.


• Participate as a senior nurse manager in the effective management of hospital services.


• Evaluate patient pathways and optimise the patient journey.


• Support the effective operation of assigned services through forward planning and organisation of resources and workload.


• Foster strong working relationships across the clinical team.


• Maintain accurate records in line with legislation and best practice.


• Demonstrate expert clinical knowledge and expertise in the delivery of patient care.


• Liaise with stakeholders on the planning and implementation of patient flow initiatives.


• Support the implementation of the strategic vision and direction of nursing across the hospital.


• Advise the Director of Nursing on all matters relating to staff development.


• Ensure NMBI requirements for the practice of professional nursing are met and upheld at all times.


• Ensure modern standards of clinical nursing care are maintained through regular audit, and use audit outcomes to develop and implement action plans.


• As part of the Senior Nurse Management Team, provide leadership on patient flow and staffing resource allocation out of hours, acting as Hospital Operational Manager out of hours.

Requirements:

• Registered, or eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division (and other divisions relevant to the service) of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by NMBI.


• A minimum of 6 years' post registration nursing experience, including 2 years' recent nursing management experience at CNM1/CNM2 level (or equivalent) in an acute setting.


• A post registration programme of study verifying a National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) Level 8 or higher award (QQI), or equivalent ECTS credits, in a healthcare or management related area.
