Payments & AML Operations Specialist

Solance is seeking a highly skilled Onboarding & AML Operations Specialist to provide immediate, hands-on support during the build and implementation of our in-house onboarding and payments platform. This contractor will help close critical gaps in onboarding logic, AML workflows, and operational readiness ahead of UAT and regulatory submission. 

This is an initial 2-4 week contract and an immediate start is preferred. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Review and refine onboarding flows for multiple entity types (complex corporate structures, high-risk entities in an EMI, PSP or fintech environment ensuring accuracy, completeness, and regulatory alignment. 

• Translate regulatory & business requirements into clear, testable technical specifications for developers and the MLRO. 

• Validate platform logic & test scenarios to accelerate delivery and reduce rework during UAT and rollout. 

• Document 1LOD processes & SOPs, including KYC validation steps, escalation triggers, screening workflows, and breakpoints across manual/automated journeys. 

• Identify, articulate, and close gaps in workflows, data requirements, and AML/CFT controls (BWRA alignment). 

• Work directly with engineering and vendors (e.g., SumSub) to ensure end-to-end clarity on what happens on the partner side vs the Solance platform. 

• Support operational readiness, ensuring that onboarding, AML controls, and payments-related workflows are fully operationalised prior to authorisation. 

• Maintain delivery momentum by providing focused, agile, hands-on support across onboarding and AML operational workstreams. 

• Recent, hands-on experience (past 12 months) onboarding complex entity types in fintech, EMIs, PSPs, or crypto-related environments. 

• Strong operational AML/KYC/KYB knowledge with the ability to challenge and refine onboarding rules, scenarios, and data requirements. 

• Proven ability to convert regulatory/business requirements into precise technical specifications and clear instructions for developers. 

• Experience validating onboarding logic, mapping workflows, and testing end-to-end onboarding journeys. 

• Excellent communication skills, should be able to articulate gaps, translate requirements, and work succinctly with Product, Engineering, and MLRO / Risks functions. 

• Highly organised, delivery-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, pre-launch environment.
