Peer Involvement Coordinator – 12 Month FTC(possibility of extension)

Full time 35 hours per week – Flexible hours required with this position as some evening work will be required
FTC with a view to permanency
Salary: €43,464.14 per annum
1. Role
Development and management of service user forums and progression of Depaul’s Peer Involvement Strategy. Capacity building of Service users and training of staff in meaningful peer involvement
2. Key Areas of Responsibility
1) An Glór Mór
What is Glór Mór:
Glór Mór (meaning ‘Big Voice’ ) is a discussion group set up by Depaul CEO David Carroll to give the voice of people with lived experience of homelessness the opportunity to discuss challenges or gaps that they are facing. The aim of Glór Mór is to improve services and to get Service Users’ direct feedback to the decision makers in the organisation.
Support the development and delivery of Depaul’s Service User Forum
Organise and coordinate the Glor Mór meetings.
Logistical support to ensure residents can attend meetings
Develop capacity of the group to be able to engage with the governance structures of Depaul
Ensuring accurate minute taking and a process for feeding back is in place
Supporting formal engagement between the Service User Forum and the Board of trustees
Support a review of the Terms of Reference and the development of a structure and constitution of An Glor Mór
2) Training / Policy
Support the development of training and training materials in Peer Involvement and delivering Groups
Deliver training to Depaul services to support better Peer participation
Co-Develop a local procedure for services in managing feedback and communication with service users
Support the identification and training of Service User Representatives within the client group across services
3) Resident’s Meetings
Support the development of service user forums in Depaul residential and community based services
Identify and support individuals to attend an Glor Mor
Support the development and maintenance of communication and feedback mechanisms within services
4) Research
Support appropriate research projects within service and ensure the centering of the voice of service users within these processes
5) Media
Support the Depaul communication strategy and engage in agreed media appearances where necessary
6) Audits
Support and drive the Service User Survey and Trauma Informed Audit process
The above list is not exhaustive; additional areas of responsibility may be added over time and flexibility to cover for other staff roles is required from time to time.
This is a new position and Job Description will be developed further over time with new tasks and responsibilities likely to be added to this list.
3. Person Requirements
Knowledge/Understanding of the work of Homeless Services
Experience/Knowledge of Quality Standards in particular NQSF
Experience in working with marginalised groups
Experience of community development work (desirable)
Understanding of Trauma Informed Approaches (desirable)
Self starting and energetic approach with an ability to work on own initiative
Experience of writing reports and action plans
Skilled at creating and/or delivering training
Experience/Understanding of implementing policy and practice to ensure consistency of approach
Experience/Knowledge of H&S Standards
Experience of liaising with Contractors/Suppliers and negotiation of contracts
Good understanding of the role of Quality and Compliance and its benefits to an organisation.
Willing to travel for the role, this may involve travelling to different locations around Ireland.
