Hire Fitter (Plant & Tool Service Technician)

Role Overview

Working alongside the Hire Department Manager, you'll be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of a wide and varied fleet of plant, tool, and electrical equipment. You'll be the engine room of the hire operation — ensuring every piece of kit leaves in top condition and every customer gets the service they deserve.

What You'll Be Doing

Large Plant Maintenance & Service:

•     Mini Excavators, Mini Dumpers, Road Compressors, Vibrating Rollers

Small Plant Maintenance & Service:

•     Cement Mixers, Concrete Power Floats, Plate Compactors, Poker Vibrators

Electrical & Engine Tools:

•     Angle Grinders, Circular Saws, Hammer Drills, Breakers, Sanders

•     Honda 4-stroke petrol, small diesel engines, Makita/Husqvarna 2-stroke petrol

Additional responsibilities include:

•     PAT testing and fleet readiness inspections

•     Maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop environment

•     Supporting customer service and conducting equipment demonstrations

•     Ensuring all health & safety standards are met

•     Assisting with day-to-day hire department operations

What We're Looking For

•     Proven experience in the plant and tool hire industry

•     Strong mechanical/fitter skills across a variety of plant and equipment types

•     A safety-first mindset and commitment to high work standards

•     Good interpersonal skills and a customer-friendly approach
