Registrar in General Surgery

The Role

To provide care to patients in the hospital and to any other patients in the hospital who require acute surgical intervention that can be provided by a General Surgical Registrar. Fixed term contract. 

Key Duties

• To act under the supervision of the Surgical Consultant in the provision of a general surgical servivce and to support the Surgical Consultant in their duties

• To admit patients from the Emergency Department

• To attend daily ward rounds with the surgical team

• Take handover of patients from the previous shift Registrar so that continuity of care is ensured and immediate decisions are made and orders written

• To review patients on a regular basis in accordance with the plan of care made at the beginning of the shift and inform the consultant of any issues or problems

Experience

• Registration with the Irish Medical Council

• Membership exams - an advantage

• Excellent communication skills - IELTS/OET if applicable
