Fire Safety Engineer

About the Role 

As one of Ireland’s most progressive and people-focused building consultancies, ORS are strengthening our expert team with a Fire Safety Engineer.

The successful candidate will work on the design and delivery of fire safety engineering solutions across a broad range of building projects. You will contribute to projects from design through construction, working closely with senior fire engineers, architects, design teams, contractors and clients to deliver practical and compliant fire safety solutions. 

The role is suited to a Fire Safety Engineer with relevant consultancy experience who is looking to further develop their technical expertise and take greater responsibility for project delivery. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop fire safety strategies and technical fire engineering solutions for a range of building types. 


• Prepare Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) applications and supporting technical documentation. 


• Prepare and support Disability Access Certificate (DAC) applications. 


• Review architectural drawings and design information for compliance with fire safety requirements. 


• Prepare fire safety reports, technical assessments and other project documentation. 


• Attend site inspections, design team meetings and project coordination meetings. 


• Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, clients and relevant authorities. Ensuring a rapport and communication with all stakeholders is key. 


• Respond to technical queries during the design and construction stages. 


• Support projects from initial design through construction and completion. 


• Manage assigned project deliverables, deadlines and technical documentation. 


• Maintain accurate project records in accordance with company quality procedures and ISO standards. 

Essential Requirements 

• Level 8 degree in Fire Engineering or a relevant related discipline. 


• Relevant professional experience in fire safety or fire engineering, ideally within a consultancy environment.  


• 2 - 5 years+ experience within a consultancy environment 


• Experience preparing or contributing to Fire Safety Certificate applications. 


• Good understanding of Irish fire safety legislation, guidance and Building Regulations. Knowledge of Technical Guidance Document B (Fire Safety) and relevant Irish Standards. 


• Ability to review drawings and develop appropriate fire safety solutions. 


• Experience preparing technical reports and supporting documentation. 


• Experience attending site inspections and project/design team meetings. 


• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 


• Good organisational and time-management skills. 


• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team. 


• Proficient in Microsoft Office. 


• Proficient in Auto CAD. 


• Ability to reliably commute to sites and in-person meetings as required 

Desirable Requirements 

• Experience preparing or contributing to Disability Access Certificate applications. 


• Experience working on projects through both design and construction stages. 


• Experience working within multidisciplinary building consultancy teams. 


• Chartered status or working towards it.
