The Cloud Reliability Lab at the Huawei Ireland Research center has a mission to bring world class reliability to Huawei Cloud by solving cross-functional problems that span Hardware, Software, Networking, Monitoring and Operations. We have teams working in all these areas with a diverse mix of people including industry veterans, academic researchers, and Ph.D. student interns. In your role, you will collaborate with the local research teams, other European research centers, and other engineering teams spread across the globe.

Responsibilities

• Investigating and solving complex, planet-scale technical problems related to cloud infrastructure, including the design of advanced hardware reliability features for globally distributed data centres.


• Analyzing and improving RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability) features in compute platforms to enhance manageability, monitor system health, and to enable predictive analytics.


• Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams ranging from engineering groups to senior management to present your findings and solutions.


• Gather insights from the cutting edge of industry and academia. Help translate customer requirements, feedback, and market dynamics into potential feature requests for a high reliability fleet.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or a related field.


• Understanding of modern operating systems (Linux/Unix kernel, CPU/GPU architectures, software reliability/manageability), system manageability (DDR, PCIe, communication protocols such as I2C/I3C, SMBUS or SPI) or hardware technology (cloud/server platforms, data centre infrastructure)


• Strong analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills along with the ability to work as part of a team
