Roofing Foreman- Germany

The Role:

The Roofing Foreman is a key site-based role responsible for supervising the day-to-day delivery of roofing works on live construction projects. This includes managing the roofing crew, ensuring material availability, coordinating the work in line with the program, and upholding quality and safety standards. Based full-time on the roof, the Roofing Foreman serves as the go-to leader for the roofing installation team, reporting directly to the Roofing Manager or Site Manager. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-focused, and skilled in coordinating labour and materials to drive output efficiently and safely.

Key Functions & Results Areas (Key Activities):

1. Roofing Installation Management

• Supervise all aspects of the roofing installation on site to ensure alignment with design drawings and technical specifications.


• Oversee daily installation works to maintain consistent progress and quality.


• Ensure correct sequencing of build-up layers and detailing is followed at all times.

2. Labour Coordination & Productivity

• Manage and direct the roofing crew on site, ensuring each team member understands their tasks.


• Ensure daily output targets are understood and achieved, adjusting labour focus as required.


• Monitor crew productivity, address inefficiencies, and communicate workforce needs to the Site Manager.

3. Material & Logistics Oversight

• Ensure all required materials are available on the roof ahead of installation – coordinate lifts, deliveries, and movement of materials with the logistics team.


• Notify site management in advance of any potential material shortages or delivery issues.


• Conduct visual checks on materials delivered to ensure quality and correct specification.

4. Quality & Drawings Compliance

• Ensure the roofing installation is carried out in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and agreed details.


• Report any design issues or clashes to the Roofing Manager or Site Manager for resolution.


• Conduct on-the-spot inspections to ensure works are free of defects and meet QA expectations.

5. Health & Safety

1. Promote a strong culture of safety on the roof; ensure team follows safe working procedures and wears appropriate PPE.


2. Monitor for unsafe practices and intervene as necessary to prevent incidents.


3. Work with the H&S team and follow RAMS and lift plans specific to roofing activity.

6. Communication & Reporting

1. Maintain close communication with the Roofing Manager and Site Manager on progress, issues, or changes.


2. Attend daily site briefings and report on labour, output, issues, and upcoming needs.


3. Assist in QA documentation where required and provide updates for program tracking.

Person Specification:

• Minimum 3–5 years’ hands-on roofing experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory/foreman role.


• Strong understanding of roofing systems and associated detailing (warm roof build-ups, membranes, insulation, fixings, etc.).


• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and install accordingly.


• Proven track record of managing crews and delivering roofing works to programme.


• Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.


• Safe Pass and Manual Handling certified.
