SAP & DBA Specialist

We are currently recruiting an experienced SAP Basis & DBA Specialist for a key role in supporting a major IT transformation programme within a global food and nutrition leader. Reporting to the IT Transformation Manager, this role is pivotal in the setup, maintenance, and performance management of the SAP landscape and database platforms as the business transitions from a third-party IT service model to an internal capability.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and managed service providers to ensure systems are secure, reliable, and operating at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and support the design, implementation, and maintenance of SAP systems across the enterprise

• Act as a technical lead on SAP Basis administration and DBA responsibilities for Oracle, Microsoft SQL, and SAP HANA environments

• Collaborate with internal teams to prioritise development, performance, and availability of the SAP landscape

• Manage SLAs, performance, and deliverables of third-party managed service providers

• Ensure full compliance with data privacy, protection, and regulatory standards

• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and backup procedures for SAP and database systems

• Oversee Microsoft SQL and Oracle (DB, Forms & Reports) service management, upgrades, and support

• Define standards and policies for SAP and Oracle infrastructure management

• Maintain detailed documentation of systems architecture and configuration

• Monitor and optimise system performance, resolving issues and implementing improvements

• Manage related budgets, controlling operational and maintenance costs efficiently

Candidate Profile

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline

• 35 years of experience in SAP Basis administration and database management

• Experience with SAP HANA, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server

• Hands-on experience working with managed service providers in enterprise environments

• Strong understanding of database backup, disaster recovery, and performance tuning

• Familiarity with SAP Business Technology Platform or similar SAP Cloud solutions

• Working knowledge of data security, compliance, and access control within SAP systems

• Excellent communication and documentation skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
