Job Description - Senior Radiographer


RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in healthcare recruitment for both domestic and overseas candidates across Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Home Care, and Community Care settings.

We are currently hiring a Senior Radiography for a Hospital in Galway, Ireland.



This is a Permanent Full-time contract — 35 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic, clinical, and professional leadership to ensure a high-quality, efficient, patient-centred radiography service in line with CORU standards.

  • Oversee the daily management of the radiography department, ensuring effective service delivery, workflow, and staff coordination.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical, technical, and radiographic developments and promote modern, evidence-based practice.

  • Monitor, evaluate, and enhance service quality through ongoing audits, performance reviews, and a robust quality assurance programme.

  • Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to operational policies, protocols, guidelines, and professional standards.

  • Foster strong multidisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration to optimise the service user experience.

  • Support staff learning and development through training, supervision, performance management, and identification of educational needs.

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, radiation protection, HIQA, EPA, JCI, and GDPR standards, addressing incidents and risks appropriately.

  • Contribute to strategic and financial planning, including staff rostering, budget control, resource allocation, and equipment procurement.







  • Requirements




    • Bachelor's Degree (Hons) in Radiography, Diploma of the College of Radiographers, or an equivalent recognised qualification.



    • Current registration with the Radiographers Registration Board of CORU, with the ability to maintain active registration.



    • Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate clinical experience in a diagnostic imaging environment.



    • A postgraduate qualification in a specialised imaging modality (e.g., CT, MRI, or Interventional Radiography) is highly desirable.



    • Proven ability to perform high-quality radiographic examinations across multiple modalities, including General X-ray, Theatre, Fluoroscopy, Interventional Radiology, CT, MRI, and Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory.



    • Strong knowledge of radiation safety principles, with the ability to comply with national radiation protection legislation, including S.I. No. 256 of 2018 and S.I. No. 30 of 2019, as well as HIQA, JCI, and EPA standards.



    • Experience in mentoring, supervising, and providing clinical education, orientation, and competency assessments for students and junior staff.



    • Competent in identifying, documenting, and reporting imaging equipment faults while supporting quality assurance and equipment performance monitoring.



    • Excellent documentation, organisational, and record-keeping skills, ensuring compliance with clinical governance, quality assurance, and data protection requirements.



    • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to participate in rotational shifts and on-call rosters while working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
