Senior Sonographer

Senior Sonographer (Permanent, 35 hours per week)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Sonographer to join the Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway. Ireland’s Largest Private Healthcare provider.

Job Purpose:

To deliver a high-quality, patient-focused diagnostic ultrasound service, performing examinations to the highest clinical standards while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity at all times.

Responsibilities and Experience:

• Independently perform and issue timely, accurate clinical notes for Radiologist report for a diverse range of ultrasound examinations (including abdominal, pelvic, small parts, vascular & gynae).
• Prioritise patient referrals based on clinical urgency and administrative efficiency to ensure the smooth running of the department.
• Foster excellent communication and collaborate closely with Consultant Radiologists, referring clinicians, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Ensure ultrasound equipment is maintained in optimal condition, performing routine quality assurance (QA) checks in line with departmental policy.
• Provide clinical leadership, mentoring, and support to junior staff and students where applicable.
• Maintain a high standard of professional development and adhere to all hospital infection control and clinical governance policies.

Essential Qualifications, Registration & Experience:

B.S.c in Diagnostic Radiography

Post Graduate Qualification in Ultrasound (equivalent to QQI level 9 in ultrasound)

CORU Registered

2 years post-qualification experience working as a Sonographer
