Job Description - Senior Strategic Communications Executive, Financial Services Ireland



JOB DETAILS


Financial Services Ireland (FSI) members are involved in the activities of banking, insurance, fund administration, asset management, aircraft leasing, fintech, payments, and others. FSI works with its members, government, the Central Bank of Ireland, EU institutions, and key industry stakeholders to ensure Ireland remains a jurisdiction of choice for domestic and international financial services firms.  
 
The Financial Services Ireland Strategic Communications role is part of the Financial Services Ireland team and will deliver integrated communications and lobbying programmes for the Trade Association. The objective is to drive FSI’s position as a thought leader on key developments across all available communications channels to reach our membership base and key stakeholders.  The primary focus is to support the work of the FSI team and to design, develop and implement communication methods to ensure impact.

ABOUT THE ROLE


Strategic Communications
  • Work with the Deputy Director to deliver engaging messaging, consistent in tone and style, that creates impact and value for FSI members
  • Take responsibility for the creation of a strategic narrative for FSI and ensure disciplined execution of this message internally and externally 
  • Monitor the work of FSI and Ibec colleagues to capture strategic communication opportunities that will amplify our efforts 
  • Be the communications lead on strategic lobbying campaigns ensuring that our positions are heard by those we strive to influence
  • Stay abreast of industry issues, ensuring that our approach to communications is tailored to our member needs
  • Embed processes and supports to ensure the publication of relevant and engaging business content which can be amplified across multiple channels to engage our members and select stakeholders 
  • Work across the organisation to ensure consistency and effectiveness of communication to enhance the reputation of the association
Member Relations
  • Identify and execute opportunities for strategic engagement with CEOs of member companies, utilising internal CRM system to monitor engagement levels 
  • Manage assigned FSI working groups and taskforces, ensuring they are tailored to member needs, and their output is impactful 
  • Work with the FSI Board to support the successful execution of the FSI Strategy
  • Engage with FSI members and build relationships with senior executives in the industry 
  • Understand the priorities of our members and as an active part of the FSI team, work to ensure these are reflected in our activities 
Media Relations
  • Manage FSI’s relationship with the Ibec press office, corporate affairs and external agencies and work with those stakeholders to execute a strong media strategy for FSI
  • Be the central contact and take responsibility for communications plan for our flagship events 
  • Advise internal stakeholders to ensure consistency in the external media messaging
  • Support the FSI Director and Deputy Director with any media work and undertake own media work where appropriate  
General 
  • Be an active member of the overall FSI team ensuring agreed objectives are met. This may include involvement in broader Trade Association management responsibilities. 
  • Work collaboratively across the organisation including identifying opportunities for cross-sectoral and/or regional engagement. Co-ordinate internal engagement on the issues. 
  • Carry out other activities as identified and agreed with the Deputy Director that are in keeping with the overall purpose of the position.

Qualifications and Experience 
  • Candidates should ideally hold a relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Experience of multi-stakeholder engagements. 
  • Strong experience working in a team environment.
  • 7-10 years’ experience in a communications-related role
  • Excellent writing, editing and positioning
  • Genuine service orientated outlook with an interest in supporting others by providing a highly responsive, proactive, customer centric service
  • Excellent track record in proactive communications strategies 
  • Proven track record in producing engaging multi-platform content for external communications and media
  • Strong experience working in a team environment and experience interacting with senior stakeholders
Knowledge
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of communications / public affairs and media trends and landscape
  • Superb public affairs and communications network
  • Strong interest in national and international affairs
  • Astute on daily trends and their impact on business
Key Skills
  • Superb writing and editorial ability with the ability to engage an audience 
  • Public speaking, presentation and engagement experience 
  • Strong influencing, communication, stakeholder management skills
  • Capability to multitask and prioritise completing projects effectively
  • Ability to work under pressure, self-directed and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to communicate succinctly and utilise a range of communication methods 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Ability to take initiative and potential to provide leadership when needed
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and multi-task
