Software/Firmware Design Engineer

Our Client, A dynamic Startup based in Galway, are seeking a Software/firmware Design Engineer to join their team. This role is fully onsite and the successful candidate must be based or willing to relocate to Galway.

Please note: This is a 15 month fixed term contract with a high potential to be made permanent

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Working with stakeholders to define & document hardware & software requirements

• Write, test, and refine software to meet design requirements

• Integrate and debug software / electronic interfaces

• Preparing and reviewing test protocols for design testing

• Problem solving test failures or product issues

• Preparing design documentation

• Develop early-stage prototypes for review key stakeholders

• Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations of new technologies

• 2 Years software / electronics design experience (Graduates will be also be considered)

• Knowledge of device communication via serial interfaces (e.g. UART, SPI, I2C)

• Basic knowledge of digital electronics

• A qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or similar

• Theoretical engineering knowledge in signal theory, analogue and digital electronics, high frequency electronics, mathematics, electronic manufacturing techniques

Nice to have:

• Experience in a medical device or similarly regulated environment

• C/C++ language experience

• Low-level software / firmware development experience

• Prior experience of writing documentation to support your software/firmware design

• Experience in small teams or startup environments
