Job Description - Staff Nurse - Cardiac and Acute Care Unit

RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in healthcare recruitment for both domestic and overseas candidates across Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Homecare, and Community Care services.

We are currently recruiting for a Staff Nurse â Cardiac and Acute Care Unit (CACU) position in a hospital located in Galway.

This is a Full-Time role working 37.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care and treatments in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process while maintaining accurate clinical documentation and supporting discharge planning.

Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and controlled drugs safely in line with hospital protocols, while monitoring patients and reporting any adverse reactions or medication incidents.

Adhere to infection prevention and control standards, work closely with the Infection Control Nurse, and ensure proper handling and disposal of medical waste according to hospital policy.

Requirements

Registered, or eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division of the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Minimum of 1â2 years of post-registration nursing experience, preferably in Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), or a related acute care setting.

Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in line with hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.

Skilled in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care while maintaining accurate clinical documentation.

Competent in the safe administration of medications, including IV therapies, blood and blood products, and controlled drugs, with appropriate patient monitoring and reporting of adverse events.

Sound knowledge of infection prevention and control practices, including the safe handling and disposal of clinical waste in accordance with hospital policies.

Strong commitment to patient safety, professional accountability, and delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Registered General Nurse (RGN) qualification with active NMBI registration or eligibility to register.

Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work rotational shifts, including day, night, weekend, and public holiday duties as required.
