Staff Nurse (Cardiac and Acute Care Unit)

We are currently recruiting a Staff Nurse – Cardiac and Acute Care Unit to join our client’s hospital in Galway, Ireland.



Full-Time | 37.5 Hours per Week

Responsibilities

• 
  

  Deliver high-quality nursing care and clinical treatments in accordance with established hospital policies, procedures and professional guidelines.
  
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care using the nursing process, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Contribute to effective discharge planning by assessing and addressing individual patient care needs and coordinating appropriate arrangements.
  
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Safely administer medications, intravenous drugs, blood and blood products, and controlled drugs in line with hospital policies and professional standards.
  
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Monitor patients following the administration of medications or treatments, accurately document outcomes, and promptly report any adverse reactions, incidents or medication errors.
  
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Follow best-practice infection prevention and control procedures and promptly identify, manage and report infections in accordance with hospital protocols.
  
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Work collaboratively with the Infection Control Nurse and multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of infection prevention and patient safety.
  
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Handle, segregate and dispose of clinical and medical waste safely and appropriately in accordance with hospital guidelines.
  
  
  

  
  

Requirements

• 
  

  Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMBI registration or eligibility for registration in the General Nurse Division
  
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Minimum 1–2 years of post-registration nursing experience, preferably in Coronary Care or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) settings
  
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while delivering a high-quality nursing service
  
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Strong personal and professional accountability for the delivery of safe, patient-centred care
  
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills
