SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Strategy & Performance Lead, Enzyme Therapies is a key partner and advisor to the SVP and Head of the Enzyme Therapies Business Unit on a variety of strategic and operational matters. This individual plays an integral role within the Business Unit (BU), and across the leadership network reflecting the Enzymes Triad (Commercial, R&D and Technical Operations). They are responsible for designing and improving BU governance, aligning the overarching BU strategy, supporting multiple brand strategies and the potential for new launches, enhancing execution, and driving operational excellence across the Enzymes Business Unit. They will support the BU Head in staying informed about the business and market performance across multiple brands and markets, identifying key insights and priorities to improve strategic discussions and decisions. They will also provide 'chief of staff' support across the cross-functional BU leadership team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Partner with the Enzyme Therapies BU Head and BU Leadership Team/Triad to formulate and operationalize Enzyme Therapies goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with CCO and BioMarin corporate strategy and objectives . Specifically, support the annual kick-off meetings to ensure best representation of the BU priorities.
• Continue to design, sculpt and implement the BU’s governance and operating model, leveraging the D-A-I decision-making framework. Partner with the CaPS Chief of Staff and other BU’s to ensure the appropriate level of consistency in governance and execution.
• Elevate Enzyme BU LT objectives and key results (OKRs), tracking and reporting progress, and keeping enterprise stakeholders informed on key decisions or outcomes from the BU
• Collaborate with the ET BU Head, Head of Marketing, BU Country Leaders, Triad partners, International region and centres of excellence, to plan for and optimize the performance of current and future products, prepare for competition , assess and communicate risks, and inform reforecasts as appropriate. This includes bringing early signals and strategic themes to the attention of the ET BU Head, helping to prioritize focus and follow-up with BU LT leaders or other teams supporting the BU
• Anticipate the needs of the Enzyme Therapies leadership team, providing appropriate support and guidance to ensure the departments are operating efficiently
• Partner with the ET BU Head to orchestrate LT meeting rhythm, agenda, content, and offsites to maximize team effectiveness and ensure optimal value is created; Lead and/or facilitate productive debates on key business plan and organizationally relevant topics
• Oversee and facilitate the business cycle through close partnership with Integrated Brand Teams, FP&A and Investor Relations, especially as it relates to developing Board of Directors content, leading Country Business Reviews and preparing for Quarterly Earnings Calls. Additionally, coordination of the BU LT across LRP planning, re-forecasts etc.
• Serve as an ambassador for the Enzymes BU Head and BU leadership team, facilitating communication within Commercial & Portfolio Strategy (CaPS. Serve as a critical liaison within the organization, maintaining a strong connection to field-level realities while effectively conveying key strategic messages for internal alignment, external communications, and engagement with investors or the board. This balanced approach positions the role to be seen as a trusted advisor across all levels of the organization.
• Partner closely with People and Communications leaders on matters such as organizational communications, employee engagement surveys, and culture initiatives
• Represent the ET BU in cross-functional forums, initiatives, and special projects
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree preferred
• Minimum 10 years of experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech, and/or management consulting
• Strong business acumen and understanding of the commercial and/or portfolio strategy function
• Strategic thinker with experience developing and implementing cross-functional plans[
• Proven project management skills; Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholder alignment
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; Capable of crafting compelling presentations and conveying complex information into clear, concise narratives that resonate with variety of audiences
• Energetic and hands-on self-starter with a desire to learn new things quickly
• Ability to navigate organizational complexities, recommend solutions, and promote collaboration across functions
• Strong leadership skills; Ability to influence without authority
• Prior experience in a management role, either directly or indirectly
• Strong drive for results; Operates effectively in a fast-paced environment and delivers results while balancing multiple priorities
• Requires weekly onsite presence
