*This role will be based in Ballycoolin, Dublin 15 initially and will move to Dunshaughlin, Co Meath once our new head office opens in the next few months*
Role Overview
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations within a building materials distribution environment. This role ensures efficient procurement, inventory management, warehousing, and distribution of construction products while maintaining high service levels and controlling costs.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting sales growth, improving operational efficiency, and protecting margin in a fast-moving, project-driven industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Supplier Management
Develop and execute procurement strategies for building materials and related products.
Working with the Purchasing Manager to negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers
Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and quality standards.
Identify alternative sourcing options to mitigate supply risk.
Inventory & Demand Planning
Manage stock levels to ensure optimal availability while minimizing excess inventory.
Develop accurate demand forecasts in collaboration with sales and commercial teams.
Monitor slow-moving and obsolete stock.
Implement stock control policies and continuous improvement initiatives.
Logistics & Distribution
Oversee inbound and outbound logistics operations.
Optimize warehouse operations and distribution processes.
Manage transportation costs and delivery performance.
Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery to branches, trade customers, and project sites.
Operational Performance & Reporting
Track and report on KPIs including stock turnover, fill rate, on-time delivery, and inventory accuracy.
Analyze supply chain data to identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities.
Drive process improvements and system enhancements.
Risk Management & Compliance
Monitor market trends affecting material costs and availability.
Develop contingency plans for supply disruptions.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
Key skills & requirements:
Proven experience in supply chain management within building materials, construction, or distribution sectors.
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
Strong analytical and forecasting capability.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred).
Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, APICS) advantageous.
5+ years’ experience in a supply chain leadership role.
