Irish Squash are seeking to appoint a part-time Club & Community Development Officer with a focus on Women & Girls in Squash. This presents an exciting opportunity for someone with the experience and energy required to break down barriers and provide opportunities for women and girls across the four Sport Ireland Women in Sport Policy areas.
The position is funded through Sport Ireland Women in Sport funding, and the successful candidate will be tasked with delivering a range of projects aligned with Sport Ireland’s Women in Sport Policy and consistent with the Irish Squash Women in Sport funding application.
In addition to working closely with dedicated volunteers, the Club & Community Development Officer will collaborate proactively with partners such as Sport Ireland and Local Sports Partnerships to promote inclusive and welcoming squash programs and initiatives.
The position is initially offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of an extension, subject to continued receipt of Women in Sport funding.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide support to existing clubs to grow in an inclusive and sustainable manner and initiate the development of new clubs catering to women and girls.
• Assist clubs with the adoption of best-in-class policies and procedures, including robust safeguarding standards and Diversity & Inclusion, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for women and girls.
• Develop new squash programs aimed at encouraging more women and girls, regardless of their background and abilities, to play squash. Support clubs in the implementation of these programs.
• Aid in increasing the number of women and girls in squash through the development and delivery of innovative competition and event structures, including social squash tournaments.
• Develop an Irish Squash Women in Squash Policy, to improve gender balance in participation, leadership, coaching and officiating, and ensure this is embedded through all levels of the sport.
• Assist with the development of a structured schools programme encouraging more girls to play squash.
• Aid in increasing the visibility and profile of women’s squash.
• Aid in encouraging and supporting more females to take on leadership positions within squash at both a club and national level.
• Assist in the promotion and engagement of women in Coach Education Programmes to increase the number of active female coaches.
• Create participation programs and establish a league/events structure for schools and third-level institutions.
• Act as an ambassador for Irish Squash, promoting and championing female participation and engagement in the sport at all levels.
Experience & Competencies
• Proven ability to develop and deliver sports programs, events, and initiatives.
• Experience and/or relevant sports development qualifications.
• Sound understanding of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion within the sports sector.
• Highly motivated with the ability to work as part of a team or independently.
• Excellent communication skills. An understanding of social media channels is desirable.
• An understanding of squash and the ability to lead sessions is desirable.
Further Information
• 12-month Fixed-Term Contract (with the possibility of an extension subject to continued receipt of Women in Sport Funding)
• Part-time, 3 days per week
• The Irish Squash Office is located on the Sport Ireland Campus, Dublin 15. Flexible and remote working arrangements are available
• Salary is dependent on experience
