Job Description - Construction Project Manager

Our client, a well known civils contractor responsible for the upgrade of wastewater plants across the country, requires a  Project Manager with civils/wastewater experience to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate would initially be working on a wastewater treatment plant upgrade near Kinvarra, Co. Galway.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with all current legislation, including codes of practice and relevant standards. Assist in the maintenance of the company legal register.
  • Review & Implement company HSQE management procedures.
  • Review & Implementation of Construction Health and Safety Plans.
  • Review & Implementation of Site Construction Stage Environmental Management Plan.
  • Review & Implementation of Site Quality Management Plan on the BIM platform.
  • Arrange, prepare and carry out Site Inductions.
  • Update and maintain all records associated with the HSQE management system.
  • Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements as required.
  • Review and comment on Subcontractor’s RAMS.
  • Record HSQE statistics including Key Performance Indicators.
  • Provide monthly HSQE report.
  • Arrange, co-ordinate and minute, Site Health and Safety meetings
  • Support the Investigation of accidents and dangerous occurrences, maintaining proper records and complying with and reporting to relevant bodies.
  • Ensure that breaches of the health and safety programme and regulations are reported to the Project Manager, and that where appropriate these are dealt with under the company disciplinary rules and procedures.
  • Document health and safety meetings and capture action plans.
  • Carry out training in all areas where competent including toolbox talks.
  • Maintain internal relationships with other internal departments as appropriate for the effective operation of the health and safety function – human resources, environmental, insurance, quality, transport fleet managers etc.
  • Build effective relationships with external bodies appropriate for the management of health, safety, quality & environment – Health and Safety Authority, Health and Safety Inspectors, EPA etc.
  • Procurement of site services and equipment
  • Preparation of site handover over documentation.

Skills / Attributes; 

  • Experience would be preferable to include Civils and/or Wastewater Treatment
  • 3 or more years on-site experience.
  • Previous experience in design and build of water or wastewater projects.
  • Possess a positive and pro-active approach to working in a team environment with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Client facing experience.
  • Experience would be desirable with MS Project, P6 and BIM 360

Education Requirements: 

  • 3rd Level qualification in Engineering / Safety management

Additional Requirements: 

  • Full clean driving licence
  • Site Safety Management accreditations
