Full-time, permanent position for a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon
40-50 hours / 4.5-5.5 days per week
Shift patterns are typically 9am-6:30pm Mon-Friday, Saturday 8:30am-4pm. Within these, one shift of 9am-2pm per week plus every second Friday 12pm finish
Salary is €40,000-€50,000 commensurate with experience level
Experience preferred but not essential
New graduate support and training will be provided

Athlone Veterinary Hospital is a truly mixed practice, catering to roughly 60% SA, 20% LA and 20% Equine. We have all the usual equipment that you would expect including digital x-ray, state-of-the-art blood analysers, ultrasound, dental facilities, gaseous anaesthesia, equine x-ray facilities, large animal surgery, stocks, stables, and calf pens.
Our well-established team comprises of 5 Veterinarians, 2 Veterinary Nurses, and a team of 5 support staff. Across the team we have a wealth of experience so there is a good support both surgically and medically – all of us are willing to help one another. We strive to keep a positive atmosphere in the hospital each day for both our clients and employees to enjoy.
Our hospital is located at Bonavalley, Athlone which is in the very centre of Ireland. We are 1 hour from both Dublin and Galway with plenty of public transport passing through our busy town daily. Athlone is a bustling market town with a plethora of cafes, pubs, and restaurants to suit all tastes and we are surrounded by beautiful countryside and waterways.
What we need from you
Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent qualification and be eligible to register with the Veterinary Council of Ireland
Experience preferred but not essential
New graduates welcome, training will be provided
Valid Irish drivers license
