Purpose:
A vital role within the technical function, with a predominantly technical focus in a high potential business. As a senior member of the team, you will work closely with your local teams in Glasgow, St Helens and Larne to develop the external wall insultation brand to become market leading.
The core purpose of this role is:
Lead the internal technical team to deliver a best in class technical service
Collaborate with the Sales team and clients on new & existing projects
Develop robust working practices for the internal team that suit the changing construction market
Assist in the design and delivery of industry leading CPD’s
Design and produce timely and high-quality specifications and quotes
Collaboration with Business Development on:
Warranties and Guarantees
SWIGA and INCA involvement
Approved Installers
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate the commercial skills to understand system margins
- Demonstrate a positive mindset to lead a continuous improvement culture
- Maintain and keep up to date knowledge on current and future legislation
- Demonstrate resiliency and ambition to build and drive long term technical excellence
- Represent the company on industry bodies to influence industry requirements and future trends
- Work alongside the Product Manager working with testing houses for system certification requirements, testing and approvals for systems. This includes attendance at Ideation workshops and Innovation workshops along with the checking of key test reports and Certification to offer a Four Eyed Principle.
- Working alongside the Sales team and Site Support team to attend on site project design meetings. This is to ensure our technical proposal matches the requirements of the project and have the ability to ensure changes are made if required
- Produce indicative wind load calculations for High Rise or High Risk projects to allow us to submit a technical specification closer to that required
- Support the Sales team and Technical Director in attending exhibitions and conferences to gather market intelligence and help promote the companies best in class technical offering
- Have the ability and confidence to make pragmatic decisions using knowledge, experience and judgement
- Provide depth of technical advice and guidance for systems to include input and guidance of the High-Risk process
- Manage the technical team to provide high quality and timely technical advice, query resolution, specifications and quotations for key technical metrics
- Write and deliver approved CPDs and training programmes for the sales team to deliver to architects and contractors to gain project specifications
Provide leadership for a team of Technical Service Advisors to create a performance culture by coaching and mentoring, developing technical skills, and enhancing overall team effectiveness
- Responsible for managing the CAD and BIM library. Oversee project quotations, drawings, specifications, calculations, warranties and provide analysis on U-values and interstitial condensation
Work in partnership with all relevant stakeholders to provide an industry leading service across the technical and commercial functions, to win projects based on high quality expertise and service levels
- Work collaboratively across the company to have a good understanding of the business and contribute to the wider business when required with the segment sales and business development teams to maximise win rates

Criteria
Education
An HND/HNC qualification within a building, architectural or related discipline.
Experience
- 5 years’ experience in a construction technical design environment
- Experience using technical desk software to produce technical drawings, quotations and specifications with Auto CAD 2D and BIM experience
- Experience in working across a supply chain of architects, main contractors and sub-contractors
- Knowledge and understanding of building regulations
- Experience in modern construction methods
- Knowledge of architectural detailing
- Experience in working with testing houses and accreditation bodies
