Compass, who are a part of the Tracsis group, have an exciting opportunity for a GIS Web Application Developer to join our team in Dublin. This role will shape and contribute to key projects that have sustainable impact on agriculture, society and the environment.

Compass are fortunate to work with great organisations that operate within sectors such as Agriculture, Transport, Health, Environment, Planning and Water Utilities. You will have the opportunity to build long term relationships with these organisations.

Whilst a full time appointment is preferable, applications for a shorter working week will also be considered. Please note your preference on your application.

This is a hybrid role, with two onsite days with the Client in Dublin City Centre.

What you will do..

You will have regular daily contact with senior colleagues, business users, ICT system owners, and likely with government policy makers.

You will work within a collaborative an

d highly skilled technical team who deliver web GIS applications that incorporate spatial analytics. Ideally you will have a strong background in Geographic Information Systems and Computer Science, with excellent experience in the deployment of WebGIS applications in an Enterprise environment.

This role reports to the GIS & Data Team Lead for Agriculture and will contribute to exciting projects with engaged clients and skilled colleagues nationally.

Who you will be..

Essential skills

• Strong Open Source GIS development skills, experience with the OpenLayers API is a distinct advantage.
• Strong web development skills, with experiencing in deploying GeoSpatial Web applications, including familiarity in deploying applications to a containerised environment.
• Good IT literacy and with scripting/programming experience.
• Good spatial analytical skills and an aptitude to applying analytical skills to problem solving
• Good presentation skills and strong attention to detail, reflected in high quality mapping outputs
• Subject matter expertise in one or more sectors such as agricultural, environmental, and/or utilities applications of GIS
• Ability to work within a team environment and under own initiative to achieve project goals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Technical

Demonstrable skills in the following:

• Development of WebGIS applications using OpenLayers JavaScript API or similar
• Publishing and management of data Services using GeoServer, MapServer or similar
• Use of the Angular Framework, Angular component libraries and associated JavaScript languages e.g. TypeScript
• Coding experience using Python
• Deployment of WebGIS applications to a Container type environment e.g. Kubernetes
• Strong code management skills using GIT or similar
