Job Description - IT Project Manager

IT Project Manager – Galway City (Hybrid)

(Initial 6-month contract)

The successful candidate will be responsible for the eMarketplace Project Implementation and will be responsible for the management of a set of supplier, stakeholder and customer relationships.

Requirements:

Lead and work with cross functional teams and colleagues to deliver the IT solution which support the strategy and brings efficiencies to functions whilst adhering to policies and procedures.

Supplier relationships:

Manage service and supply/procurement relationships with suppliers; act as point of escalation in managing service delivery and service development issues, ensuring that suppliers perform as contracted.

Stakeholder and Customer Relationships:

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior stakeholders, internal and external.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will be specifically accountable for:

•Delivering and implementing the eMarketplace project within time and budget

•Working with relevant stakeholders at a senior level to understand their business objectives and to define and develop services which meet their business needs and expectations, all within the context of the strategic plan and recognising the changing external IT environment.

•Managing third party partner and supplier contracts for the delivery of products, projects and services ensuring procurement compliance and value for money for the University.

•Leading, managing and developing a team of assigned project staff members, which may include one or more managers responsible for delivery of individual services as well as technical and customer service staff.

•Managing the team to ensure that specified services are delivered against service descriptions and service specifications, where necessary originating and agreeing these specifications and descriptions with relevant stakeholders.

•Providing support and encouragement to team members in developing their potential aligned with the aims, including promoting University defined performance management schemes.

•Ensuring all activities are carried out in compliance with defined project and service management processes (e.g. PRINCE2 and ITIL).

•Ensuring services and projects are aligned with standards in terms of architecture and security.

•Managing each stage of the project for each project deliverable.

•Manage user training to stakeholder groups as required.

•Preparing budgetary proposals and managing all procurement in compliance with the University’s policies on same.

•Such other duties as may reasonably be required in undertaking the Project Manager role.

Special Features of Job

The successful candidate will demonstrate the Eligibility requirements below:

Essential Requirements

•Degree level qualification (QQI Level 8) or equivalent.

•Five years experience working at a senior level in the area of IT or a related area.

•Significant track record of successfully delivering IT projects and services in large and complex organisation(s).

•Five years’ experience of providing leadership in large organisation(s) with a diverse range of stakeholders.

•Demonstrable experience of collaboration across organisational boundaries with diverse groups of internal partners to deliver IT change.

•Supplier/Partner management experience.

•Significant experience of working with formal methodologies (PRINCE2 ,ITIL or equivalent) and other aspects of current best practice for the delivery of IT projects and services.

•Significant experience of managing developing a team of staff including formal performance management systems.

•Budget management experience.

Desirable Requirements

•Level 9 qualification in IT/ Management

•Experience working in large complex organisations with multiple stakeholders

•Working knowledge of IT Architecture

•Awareness of national procurement processes

•Knowledge and understanding of Higher Education and Public sectors
