Irish Girl Guides (IGG) is recruiting for the role of Project Support Officer as part of the roll-out of our Hi Digital Project with Vodafone Foundation. 

Irish Girl Guides (IGG) is recruiting for the role of Project Support Officer as part of the roll-out of our Hi Digital Project with Vodafone Foundation. The Project Support Officer will support the delivery of the Hi Digital Project within Irish Girl Guides and coordinate the links with the relevant partners. 

IGG’s mission is to enable girls and young women to develop to their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world. This is achieved by the Volunteer Leaders running a non-formal educational programme with 400 units across all counties in the Republic of Ireland. The organisation has charitable status and staff work with the volunteers to ensure IGG is compliant with all relevant legislation and best practice in the youth and charity sector.

Main responsibilities

Facilitate and develop this project, supported by funding from Vodafone Foundation, by ensuring the stakeholders involved are connected and engaged in the Hi Digital Programme. 

  • Coordinate the management of the project with the IGG Programme and Training Commissioner or delegated volunteer, as well as acting as the key network person with the relevant external partners and stakeholders. 
  • Implement a Monitoring & Evaluation Framework to be used for the project and fulfil all reporting duties as required.
  • Work with staff and volunteers to ensure training on the Hi Digital project takes place nationwide to meet targets as per the project specification. 
  • Work with staff and volunteers to ensure values, knowledge, and skills of working with older people through Hi Digital is deepened across the organisation. This may involve facilitation with young people and adults both in person and online.
  • Work together with the organisation’s operational team to ensure the integration of this new project with the overall Guiding Programme, including linking the Hi Digital curriculum to the young person’s Guiding Journey. 
  • Work with the organisation’s PR and Advocacy Officer to ensure consistent messaging and measurement of the Hi Digital programme across all media. 
  • Collaborate and attend meetings, representing Irish Girl Guides with the relevant partners for this project. 
  • Any other duties as requested by the CEO.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Minimum Level 6 qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications in a related area such as youth and community work, facilitation, digital citizenship, education.
  • Share the ethos of Irish Girl Guides. 
  • Ability to engage learners of different abilities, both youth and adults.
  • Ability to manage busy workloads in an effective and organised way with competency in IT skills.
  • Ability to build and foster working relationships with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to work with volunteers, staff and youth groups (evenings, weekends) in community settings around the country.
  • Demonstrate experience in developing and delivering training programmes.

Person Specification

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise effectively and confidently at all levels internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate the initiative needed in pushing the programme forward and make it sustainable into 2025 and beyond. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to be able to cross with other programmes, to facilitate other IGG intra- generational learning.
  • Be enthusiastic, ambitious and promote a positive attitude.
  • Strong organisational skills and good time management.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ability to juggle tasks and meet deadlines.

Conditions:

Initially this is a six-month fixed-term contract, which may be renewed upon successful reporting and subsequent funding sourced. 

The post is a 36.25 hour-a-week role and the salary will be €14-17K for the initial six months (€28-34k pro rata per annum) subject to experience and qualifications. 

Hybrid working options are available, however, an initial induction period of six weeks will require an onsite presence in the National Office or at Unit meetings as agreed with the CEO. The main place of work is Tallaght, Dublin 24. This position is subject to Garda Vetting.
