What You’ll Do

We are seeking an experienced developer to join a solid multidisciplinary team working on a variety of products used by Storyful’s News and Intel team and external clients. By joining our team you will have the opportunity to shape the direction of our products by being involved in the process from start to finish. We expect our Senior Web Developer (Back end) to:

• Contribute at a high level to our back end systems

Troubleshoot and investigate issues

Work in a multidisciplinary team

Collaborate effectively with product owners, other developers and non-technical stakeholders

Promote continuous improvement in all aspects of the product development lifecycle

Support and mentor other developers to encourage growth through code reviews, pair programming and workshops.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with backend web development

Have a passion for maintaining and refactoring legacy systems

Rigorous about unit and integration testing

Experience mentoring and training colleagues in best practices

Excellent communication skills and a willingness to use them on an English-speaking team

Career-long experience with git

Preferred Skills & Knowledge

Familiarity with designing RESTful APIs

Professional experience with Ruby on Rails

Interest in containerisation and orchestration technologies; such as Docker, Compose, Kubernetes

Familiarity with a GNU/Linux or UNIX environment

Experience with an Agile methodology; e.g. Scrum, Kanban, XP
