DESCRIPTION:

GE Healthcare (GEHC) Ireland Limited (Cork) is part of GE Healthcare’s Pharmaceutical Diagnostics (PDx) business. GE Healthcare is the global Leader in Imaging agents.  GE manufacture and distribute X-ray and MRI Contrast Media worldwide to support Neurology, Cardiology, and Oncology procedures. Our products are administered to patients to improve the medical image, thereby facilitating effective diagnoses & monitoring of disease. Our products are used to image three patients every second. GEHC is on a transformation journey to double our capacity over the next 5 years to > 70million (vials).

The Cost Controller intern role assists the Cost Controller with project cost control, budget monitoring, cost forecasting, and reporting. This position is ideal for recent graduates interested in developing their skills in financial analysis within capital projects. The graduate will work closely with senior team members to support cost risk analysis, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all reporting activities.

ROLE / REPORTING LINE:

Reporting to the Cost Controller and working under the guidance of the Cost Controller.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the project cost controller to ensure all cost reporting, analysis, and forecasting performance.
  • Supports the project cost engineer to ensure preparation of monthly and yearly rolling forecasts for the operative year with analysis of variances from the agreed baseline budget.
  • Support the implementation of the Project Controls Plan (PCP) with respect cost management and control.
  • Supports the management of the project budget, cost risk, value improvement, change   management, reporting, contingency, benchmarking processes, as described in the PCP.
  • Monitors, tracks and reports progress, cost, risk performance and forecasts, with trends and variances analysed;
  • Participates in project reviews, risk and opportunity meeting and workshops, providing support in the identification, challenging and mitigation of project cost risks.
  • Liaises with the finance department to establish monthly evaluation of work  done,  goods  received  and services rendered for invoice preparation and validation to ensure supplier invoices are managed in accordance with the agreed invoice process for the project.
  • Maintains all required Cost Control Registers e.g., Costbook , Purchase Order & Invoice Registers, Change Management Registers etc.
  • Provides weekly cost updates to the Project Manager , Cost Controller and Finance.
  • Escalates cost issues to the Project Manager, in line with governance requirements for the project.
  • Participates in lessons learned workshops, project closeout and ensure all benchmarks for a project or portfolio of projects is maintained and communicated to Project Manager.
  • Undertakes other relevant duties as may from time to time, to support capital project cost control.

PRINCIPAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Engineering and Business Student in Placement
  • Basic Knowledge of the different forms of Agreement for capital projects and the implementation of the same for work packages.

PREFERRED TECHNICAL WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.;
  • A decision maker and effective communicator;
