Working Environment and Location

• This is a student placement position, must be in 3rd year of relevant level 7 course.


• This position is based in Tralee, Ireland and requires you to be fully onsite.


• Placement run’s from Jan 27 – Aug 27.

Purpose and Scope

Support the Facilities Department under the guidance of experienced technical personnel, contributing to the safe, compliant and reliable operation of site utilities and facilities. Gain practical experience in the operation, monitoring and documentation of clean utilities, including Water for Injection (WFI), purified water, clean steam, process gases and associated distribution systems. Develop an understanding of black utilities and wider facility infrastructure, including HVAC, chilled water, steam, compressed air, boilers, waste systems and supporting plant equipment. Assist with activities that support facilities reliability, regulatory compliance, energy efficiency, maintenance readiness and continuous improvement. Develop an understanding of internal procedures and applicable regulatory, legislative, environmental and statutory requirements within a cGMP manufacturing environment. Provide project, technical and documentation support to Facilities initiatives while developing cross-functional collaboration, problem-solving and communication skills. Support the Facilities Lead and designated mentor in completing agreed work assignments and achieving defined learning objectives.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide technical and administrative support to Facilities and Engineering, helping to ensure utilities, infrastructure and projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with approved schedules.


• Develop practical knowledge of clean and black utilities through supervised routine checks, data trending, performance monitoring, documentation and structured problem-solving activities.


• Support GMP, safety and compliance requirements, including accurate documentation, SOPs, work instructions, training, data integrity, incident/deviation investigations, CAPAs and change control.


• Contribute to facilities and utilities projects, including commissioning, qualification, handover and cross-functional activities with Facilities, Engineering, Quality, EHS and Operations.


• Collect, analyse and present data to support reliability, water and energy efficiency, waste reduction, continuous improvement and Lean Six Sigma initiatives.


• Develop technical, analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills through assigned projects, mentoring, feedback, training and completion of agreed learning objectives.

Essential Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a relevant third-level qualification, preferably in mechanical, electrical, energy, building services, process, chemical, pharmaceutical or related engineering or scientific discipline.
