POSITION OVERVIEW

USAC is seeking a part-time Resident Director (RD) for its summer 2026 program in Cork, Ireland. The RD provides support and cultural experiences to USAC students, while managing the summer program based on the UCC campus running from late May to early July 2026. The RD manages on-site issues and operations of the summer program; monitors and assists with the well-being and needs of the participating U.S. university students (approx. 25-50 students); manages emergencies as needed and handles all communication with the U.S.-based Central Office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Hours expected – approx. 20 per week during the session (schedule will vary according to program planning and operational needs onsite). Peak period May 22-July 2, with limited additional hours required earlier (leading up to group arrival) and later (shortly beyond group departure). Potential for additional hours to support program development outside of the session dates.

Leadership & Representation

• Serve as USAC’s professional, in-person representative in Cork.


• Provide leadership in all aspects of the program.


• Maintain consistent, transparent communication with the CEO and U.S. Central Office (for example, Program Coordinator, Program Advisor, Health and Safety Manager, Accounting Specialist), Academic staff.)

Program Management

• Oversee all daily operations, student needs, and program activities.


• Organize and lead orientation, meetings, excursions, and cultural activities.


• Ensure accurate and updated program information across all USAC systems and materials.


• Conduct program evaluation at end of session.

Student Support & Safety

• Support students with medical, personal, academic, disciplinary, and emergency issues.


• Work closely with USAC Health & Safety and other Central Office teams.


• Maintain regular meeting hours to address and support the students’ and instructors’ questions and concerns.

Housing & Logistics

• Coordinate, inspect, and monitor student housing, including legal and financial documentation.


• Manage transportation, lodging, and logistics for field trips and tours (day trips and multi‑day travel).

Academic Oversight

• Recruit instructors, secure syllabi, negotiate salaries, and arrange classroom space.


• Train instructors on U.S. academic expectations and monitor performance.


• Ensure academic integrity and adherence to USAC policies.


• Conduct course evaluations at end of session

Budget & Administration

• Prepare session budget and financial reports with strict accuracy.


• Maintain receipts and oversee local legal, banking, and payroll matters.


• Provide regular updates to Central Office on program operations.

Partnership & Community Engagement

• Strengthen collaboration with the host university and local partners.


• Develop opportunities for student integration: volunteering, sports, and cultural engagement.


• Promote the program through social media in coordination with USAC marketing team.

Other

• Be available during program session, including occasional evenings and weekends.


• Participate in required training and required virtual meetings. 


• Travel nationally needed.


• Additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

• Fluency in English

• Legal authorization to live and work in Ireland, must reside in Cork.


• Master’s degree or equivalent.


• Minimum 3 years full-time work experience.


• Experience working with university students and in academic environments.


• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.


• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, cross-‑time zone‑ environment.


• Proficiency with MS Office, databases, social media, Salesforce, and related technology.


• Ability to handle challenging situations professionally and calmly.


• Commitment to international education and student development.


• Availability for extended hours and overnight travel.


• Extensive knowledge of Irish culture and strong cross-cultural competency.


• Reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or equivalent.


• 3–5 years related full-time experience.


• Experience studying, working, or traveling internationally.


• Experience with U.S. and international students.


• Familiarity with U.S. higher education systems and trends.


• Ability to teach a course in the program.


• Experience with curriculum development and academic oversight.


• Professional experience in public speaking and executive communication.


• Leadership experience in high-volume, fast-paced environments.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications.

Position TENTATIVE START DATE: Late APRIL/early May 2026.
