Overview
As an Academic Advisor you play a pivotal role in providing guidance and support to students helping them navigate their academic journeys. Your input is critical in ensuring that students make informed decisions to achieve their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct oneonone advising sessions with students to discuss academic goals and progress
- Assist students in developing academic plans and course schedules
- Provide information on degree requirements academic policies and procedures
- Offer guidance on career paths and internship opportunities
- Identify and address students academic challenges and provide appropriate support
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success initiatives
- Organize and conduct advising workshops and informational sessions
- Assist in the development of academic advising materials and resources
- Stay updated on educational trends and program requirements
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of advising processes
- Utilize advising technologies and systems effectively
- Participate in new student orientation and academic events
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation
- Handle sensitive student issues with confidentiality and professionalism
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Education Counseling Psychology or related field
- Previous experience in academic advising or student services
- Strong understanding of higher education policies and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and inclusive environment
- Familiarity with academic planning and degree audit systems
- Proven ability in problemsolving and conflict resolution
- Demonstrated organizational and time management abilities
