Validation & Verification Engineer

Position Summary

The searched figure will be involved in Verification and Validation (V&V) activities of mechatronic systems, including mechanics, electronics and software.
In this role, the candidate is expected to collaborate with the rest of the team in defining, planning and performing testing campaign of mechatronic systems, leveraging Systems Engineering techniques with a holistic approach.
Depending on the on-going projects and roles, V&V Engineer’s activities may include the following:
- Support the Definition of V&V plans of mechatronic systems
- Develop and improve testing request workflow and V&V activities execution
- Utilization of tools and methods for software validation and calibration
- Laboratory and field testing activities
- Experimental data post-processing and analysis
- Preparation, organization and presentation of project documentation (design documents, technical reports, costs analysis)

Main Responsibilities

• Application of Systems Engineering principles and workflow defined by the One Dana Mechatronic System development approach
• V&V activities planning
• Support the Development Team in the build of Design Validation Plan
• Support the V&V Testing Team in the execution of Design Validation Tests and report the results
• Validation of mechatronic systems (hardware, software, eMotors)
• On field vehicle testing and performance evaluation
• Report out of V&V activities updates to management and leadership
• Continuous enhancement of Environment, Health & Safety culture

Job Position Requirements

Education : University Master Degree in  Electronic/Mechatronic/Automation Engineering.

Professional Background : 2-4 years experience in industry/academia on mechatronics projects. Preferably including experimental/laboratory activities .

Hard Skills :

Essential :

• Very good engineering basics
• Good spoken and written English
• Knowledge of most common electric motors technology type (PMAC, ACIM, SynRM)
• Proficient technical skills Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Technical background in power electronics products such as inverter and power converters
• Experience in debugging/testing with laboratory instruments (oscilloscope, function generator, power analyzer, etc.)
• Accuracy on project deliveries following internal processes

Considered as a plus :

• Knowledge of DSP and micro-controller architectures
• Product Development in accordance with functional safety standards
• Familiarity with industriual CAN communication protocols (e.g. J1939, canOPEN, UDS)
• Vector VectorCast/CanAlyzer/CanApe/Candela Studio
• MIL/HIL testing environments
• Matlab/Simulink
• dSpace software validation toolchain
