We are looking for an Apprentice for the Innovation Center for Optimization & AI who will be trained in 2 years as Operations Research Scientist.

Your Challenge

As an Operations Research Scientist some of your main activities will be:

• Assist in the design, development, and implementation of optimization models to enhance Siemens Mobility’s planning software.
• Employ mathematical programming software tools to devise solutions.
• Collaborate with senior staff and cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and objectives.
• Analyze data and take part in workshops to support the development of novel optimization approaches.
• Stay current with the latest research and trends in optimization and operations research.
• Actively seek ways to improve models, algorithms, and processes
• Engage in international projects and collaborate with teams from various countries

Required entry qualifications:

• You have less than 30 years of age, in accordance with the Italian apprenticeship contract
• Recent PhD or PhD candidate nearing completion in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields with a thesis focused on optimization. Candidates with Master’s degree candidates may also be considered.
• Strong foundation in mathematical programming and familiarity with optimization software tools (e.g., CPLEX, Gurobi, etc).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate complex ideas clearly.
• Programming skills in language of choice (Python, Java, C++ etc)
• Proficiency in English and Italian
• Team player ability, strong communication & interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work in a changing environment
• Passion to never-stop growing
• Respect and appreciation of each person’s uniqueness, willingness to co create and share knowledge
• Eligibility to work in Italy
