Recently acquired by Office Timeline, we’re strengthening our position in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. To accelerate our growth, we’re expanding our development team. 

As we evolve our platform and integrate with more productivity tools, we’re looking for a talented Backend Web Developer to join us in Modena and help take Timeneye to the next level. 

Role Purpose 

You’ll be part of a collaborative and cross-functional team, focusing on designing and scaling the backend systems that power Timeneye’s product ecosystem—including the main web app, APIs, and integrations. 

Your work will directly impact the reliability, security, scalability, and performance of our platform, ensuring a seamless experience for thousands of teams worldwide. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Design and maintain robust data models and schemas to support complex business logic and reporting 

• Develop and optimize RESTful APIs used by frontend clients and integrations 

• Ensure data consistency, concurrency handling, and transactional integrity across the system 

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring scalable and efficient backend services 

• Implement secure coding practices and safeguard the platform against vulnerabilities (e.g., SQL injection, brute-force attacks, privilege escalation) 

• Manage relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) with a focus on query optimization, indexing, and scalability 

• Collaborate with frontend developers and product managers to deliver cohesive end-to-end solutions 

• Contribute to architectural decisions, technical discussions, and long-term scaling strategies 

• Work in a Docker-based containerized environment for development and deployment 

• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and agile ceremonies 

Required Skills & Qualifications 

• At least 5 years of experience in backend web development 

• Strong experience in backend programming with PHP (preferred) or similar languages (e.g., Python) 

• Solid expertise with web frameworks, especially Laravel (preferred) 

• Proven ability to design and optimize RESTful APIs and backend services 

• Strong knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and database optimization 

• Proficiency with common relational database systems (MySQL preferred, but also PostgreSQL or MS SQL), including advanced query design, indexing strategies, and performance tuning 

• Experience managing concurrency, transactions, and consistency challenges in web applications 

• Familiarity with Redis, including caching strategies and cache management for performance optimization 

• Experience in designing and developing asynchronous jobs and managing job queues for background processing 

• Hands-on experience with Docker (Docker files, Docker Compose, etc.) 

• Solid Git knowledge and collaborative workflows (branching, PR reviews, CI/CD integration) 

• Strong understanding of web security fundamentals: RBAC, encryption, input validation, XSS/SQL injection prevention 

• English proficiency at B2 level or higher (spoken and written) 

Nice-to-Have Skills 

• Practical experience with WebSockets for building real-time features and event-driven applications 

• Experience with cloud platforms, especially Azure (preferred) or AWS 

• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and CI pipelines 

• Experience with asynchronous processing, queues, and distributed systems 

• Understanding of Agile methodologies and Scrum practices 

• Familiarity with Microsoft Power platform (Power BI, Power Automate) and the Office365 suite
