We’re building a pipeline of exceptional Senior Cloud Engineers to join our growing Cloud & Data Center area at Allianz Technology Romania — and we’re skipping the boring stuff to find them.

Welcome to Cloud Arena: Prove Your Build, a hands-on, competition-style challenge designed for engineers who’d rather show their skills than talk about them. Think real-world cloud architecture, automation, containers, and security — no multiple-choice questions, no standard interview scripts. Just you, your team, and the kind of problems you actually love solving.

What you’ll actually do (once you’re in)

This isn’t a “monitor dashboards and file tickets” kind of role. Here’s what your day-to-day looks like:

• Build and ship cloud solutions on AWS and Azure — scalable, reliable, production-grade. No hand-waving, no “it works on my machine”


• Own the automation — you’ll lead the charge on infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps workflows. If it can be automated, you automate it


• Design with serverless, Kubernetes, and event-driven patterns — we don’t just talk about modern architectures, we run them


• Lock it down — security isn’t someone else’s job. You’ll bake authentication, authorization, and best practices into everything you build


• Keep things fast and bulletproof — monitor, optimize, and make sure our cloud apps perform at scale without breaking a sweat


• Level up the team — mentor junior engineers, run code reviews, share what you know. We grow together or not at all


• Stay sharp — cloud moves fast. You’ll experiment with new tools, frameworks, and approaches, and bring the best ones back to the team

What you bring to the arena

We’re not looking for a checklist — we’re looking for engineers who’ve been in the trenches. Here’s what matters:

• 4+ years building in the cloud — real, hands-on experience with AWS or Azure, not just certifications on a wall


• You live and breathe automation — CI/CD pipelines, GitOps (Flux, ArgoCD), GitFlow — you’ve built them, maintained them, and debugged them at 2 AM


• You write real code — Python, Golang, JavaScript, Terraform — and you’re comfortable picking up whatever else the job needs. Polyglot mindset, not just one trick


• Kubernetes is your playground — custom CRDs, operators, controllers. You don’t just deploy to K8s, you extend it


• Serverless and event-driven? Second nature — queues, streams, pub/sub — you know when to use what and why


• Security isn’t an afterthought — ABAC, RBAC, JWT, SAML, AAD, OIDC — you’ve implemented them, not just read about them


• You think in systems — scalability, concurrency, distributed architectures, cloud networking, proxies — you see the big picture and the edge cases


• You know your way around data — NoSQL (DynamoDB), functional programming patterns, and you actually care about clean code (DRY, KISS, SOLID — not just acronyms on your CV)


• You make others better — code reviews, pair programming, mentoring — you raise the bar for everyone around you


• You communicate like a human — you can explain complex technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders without making their eyes glaze over


• Bonus: AI curiosity — basic knowledge of AI technologies and how to put them to practical use
