BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The United Nation’s World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian organization saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity, for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change.
WFP’s Chief Financial Officer Division drives effective planning, allocation and utilization of resources, and oversees the corporate financial cycle, from performance and financial planning, through budgeting, recording of accounting transactions and payments, to financial and performance reporting.
As part of the CFO Division, the CFOMD team analyze and transform complex financial and performance data to derive strategic insights, drive financial risk management and strengthen high-level decision-making. Leveraging advanced digital tools and innovative methodologies, the team aim to support strategic business outcomes and to enhance financial stewardship.


ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Business Intelligence and Data Visualization Specialist will support various day to day tasks, leveraging Planning, Budgeting, Programming, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Performance data for both Global HQ and Country Offices to maintain a robust data foundation which enable specialized data analytics, business intelligence and data visualizations for decision-making.

Main responsibilities include:
Work with the team to identify advanced analytics needs for management decision making and continue developing and enriching the corporate data foundation accordingly.
Develop, maintain and implement the overall data architectural model to support business intelligence and data analytics strategies for specific specialized and complex requests in the division.
Manage large data sets to make them usable and meaningful, capable of supporting a variety of visualization options that are universally understandable and allow easy interpretation.
Deliver as and when required prototype solutions to support the Management team with immediate data visualization needs.
Analyze data to identify trends and potential areas of concern, bringing those to the attention of the respective managers for decision making.
Contribute to the preparation of periodic reports to provide an overview to management.
Lead interaction with data teams to ensure timely and high-quality reporting and advanced analytics.
Undertake additional tasks as required.


Specific Tools and Systems Responsibilities
Extract, manipulate, quality check, analyze and present data, as required, from:
o Corporate Systems such as WINGS and DOTS

o Country Office systems such as SCOPE (WFP's beneficiary information and transfer management platform)
o Database systems (postgresql, MySQL, HANA, SugarCRM/SUITECRM systems, and others)
o M&E systems (ONA, KoBo, and COMET)
o WFP CFM (Complaint and Feedback Mechanism)
o Customer Relationship Management (SugarCRM and SuiteCRM)
Link and present data from corporate systems including WINGS, SCOPE Interventions and Settlements, COMET Partnership Agreements (SCOPE Interventions i.e. enrollment/redemption and M&E outcome monitoring from WFP's primary data collection tool, MoDa); Complaints and Feedback Mechanism, COMET Partnership Agreements and SCOPE Interventions


DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
KPIs and business critical priorities and requirements determined.
BI and data analyst strategies developed and implemented to received requests.
Quality data reports and data representations provided to management.
Innovative business and data visualization solutions provided to meet multiple and varied audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
A degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, business intelligence, operations, management, or another related field or relevant experience.
Experience:
6-10 years of working experience in relevant field, ideally with 2- 3 years WFP field experience (CO/RB) with data analytics and experience in WFP HQ budgeting and funds management data analytics.
Knowledge & Skills:
Excellent analytical and statistical skills. Understanding of various types of performance analysis and/or enterprise analysis. Knowledge or experience with data modelling, data warehousing and business intelligence technologies and methodologies.
Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English.
