Digital System Architect

About the role:

In this role, you will play a key part in designing and delivering the embedded software that powers our next generation of consumer products. Working closely with global development teams and external partners, you will translate product requirements into robust, scalable software architectures while driving engineering excellence through technical leadership, mentoring, and modern software development practices.

The impact you’ll make:

• Lead the architectural design of embedded software systems for real-time operating systems (RTOS) or bare-metal platforms, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with product goals.
• Translate complex technical and consumer requirements into clear, actionable specifications, and user stories that steer development effectively.
• Drive consistent communication and alignment with both internal stakeholders and external partners globally to ensure quality, compliance, and timely delivery.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent by conducting code reviews, fostering best practices in C/C++ development, and championing continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to defining the software development lifecycle processes, integrating Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD practices in embedded software projects.
• Ensure product security and privacy principles are embedded throughout the software design, architecture, and verification phases.
• Promote an innovative culture by exploring and integrating emerging IoT protocols and connectivity technologies to enhance product capabilities.

The skills and knowledge you’ll bring:

• At least 5 years of professional experience leading and delivering embedded projects of varying complexity in consumer electronics or related fields.
• Expertise in documenting comprehensive software requirements, designing software architecture utilizing frameworks like 4+1 views or UML, and drafting clear test plans and procedures.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers, facilitating thorough code reviews, and applying advanced software quality techniques such as unit testing, static code analysis, performance profiling, and debugging.
• Strong familiarity with modern software development practices including Agile methodologies, DevOps principles, and implementing Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment pipelines.
• Knowledge of global standards and best practices such as FMEA risk analysis, ISO/IEC compliance, and MISRA guidelines is highly desirable.
• A keen understanding of security and privacy considerations in software architecture and development, ensuring compliance with industry best practices.
• Experience with IoT communication protocols like MQTT, CoAP, REST, and TCP/UDP, as well as Bluetooth/BLE technologies, will be advantageous.
• Background in Linux-based product architecture design and development adds significant value.
• Previous collaboration or partnerships with Chinese manufacturers is a plus, providing insights into cross-cultural project management and supply chain dynamics.

Compensation Package

The salary range for this position is EUR 55,000 – EUR 65,000 gross annual fixed compensation (RAL), corresponding to Level B3 of the CCNL Metalmeccanico (Code: C011), and determined by Versuni’s objective, gender-neutral career framework. The role also includes a variable compensation component linked to company performance and/or structured incentive schemes, as well as work-from-home and phone allowances to support home office setup and business connectivity.
